KEYSWITCH SELECTION FOR THE SLC 5/03 AND THE SLC 5/04
PROCESSORS
The SLC 5/03 and SLC 5/04 processors include a 3-positions keyswitch on the front panel that lets you select one of the
three modes of operation: RUN, PROGRAM, and REMOTE
ATTENTION: Depending on the size of your user program, the processor can take up to 2.5 seconds to change modes when
you change the position on the keyswitch from RUN to PROG or to REM. DO NOT USE the keyswitch in place of a
hardwired master control relay or an emergency-stop switch.
REM POSITION
1. This position places the processor in the REMOTE Mode: either the REMote RUN, REMote
Program, or REMote Test.
2. You can change the processor mode by changing the keyswitch position or by changing the mode from
programmer/operator interface device.
3. You can perform online program editing in this position
4. When the keyswitch is in REM position, you CAN use a programmer/operator interface device to
change the processor mode

ACCESSING THE MAIN MENU
Use This Access the Main Menu from any software screen
Procedure To:
2. Press [ESC] three times. (The screen may not appear to change)
3. If the Main Menu is not displayed yet, choose the appropriate option
to access the Main Menu
3
ACCESSING AN ON-LINE OR OFF-LINE PROCESSOR FILE
Use This Access the program directory screen of an off-line processor file from any
Procedure To: software screen
If you are not sure how to do this, see the Accessing the Main Menu procedure on page
3
2. Choose the appropriate option the access the desired processor file:
A. of you want to access the processor file in the SLC 500 processor then:
- Press [F1] ONLINE to access the Online Program Screen
IMPORTANT: The programming terminal must be connected to the processor prior to going online.
B. If you want to access the processor file that is currently active in the program
terminal then:
- Press [F3] OFFLINE PRG/DOC to access the Offline Program Directory Screen
C. if you want to access a processor file that is currently on the hard disk in the
programming terminal then:
- Press [F4] OFFLINE CONFIG
- Select the desired processor file with the UP and DOWN arrow keys
- Press [F1] OFFLINE PROG/DOC to access the Offline Program Directory Screen
4
COPING PROCESSOR FILES TO DISK AND FROM DISK
IMPORTANT: This procedure assumes that SLC 500 processor is configured to use the
default file directories
5
TRANSFERRING THE PROCESSOR PROGRAM
TO THE EEPROM
Use this Transfer the processor file in an SLC 500 processor to the memory module
Procedure to: The memory module program is usually a backup copy of the processor . File normally
in use.
2. Make sure that the SLC 500 processor is in PROG or REM PROG mode
3. Press [F1] ONLINE
ATTENTION: Be sure that you make the following selection correctly. If you choose WRITE
PROTECT, you will be unable to transfer another program until you replace the memory module
A. If you want to be able to reload the memory module in the future then:
B. If you want PERMANENTLY to burn the program into the memory module then:
6
CONFORMATION THAT THE PROCESSOR PROGRAM HAS BEEN DOWNLOADED TO
THE EEPROM CORRECTLY
2. Make sure that the processor status bit S:1/12 is set (S:1/12 = 1)
7
TRANSFERRING THE EEPROM PROGRAM TO
THE PROCESSOR
Use This: Restore the processor file in the memory module to an SLC 500
Procedure To: processor. The memory module is usually a backup copy of the processor
file normally in use:
If you are not sure how to do this, see Accessing the Main Menu procedure
on page 3
2. Make sure hat the SLC 500 processor is in PROG or REM PROG
mode
