Eaton Corporation: Powerware Products Product Engineering Instructions: LEM Sensor Tester 9390 Power Modules This operation is done with the 9890 off, with no logic power applied. Open up the 9390 to gain access to the power modules and interface boarc. ‘The tester plugs into the ourrent sensor ribbon cable (16 pin) that goes to the power modules. Two modules will be measured at the same time (the front and rear ones) since the ribbon cable cannot be easily removed from the power module, especially from the inverter side. NOTE: The readings will be different when measuring two modules versus one module. This test provides power to the LEM current sensors on the power modules. The 16 pin ribbon cables must be unplugged to separate the module pairs from all other connections. Unplug the current sense ribbon cables from the interface board, P30 (Rec) and P31 (Inv). For a 120/160KVA unit, disconnect the current sensor ribbon cables from the interconnect board. It may be easier to remove P32 (Rec) and P33 (Inv). This separates the right side modules from the left side. Note: For the right side modules, it may be easier to use the ribbon cable provided with the box to connect the tester to the interconnect board (J32, J33). The tester box will need to plug into ths ribbon castes in-the 9290, so the box must be able to reach the area of the interface board. Do not plug in the ribbon cable yet. Make sure the switch on the box isin the Off position. Most multimeter test leads wil fit into the test points on the box, but some may not. Plug the multimeter into the Ref and 5V test points on the side of the box. Connect the power supply to the tester, and plug it into a 120V source. With the switch OFF, the value should be 5.10VDC. Plug the ribbon cable from one of the power module pairs into the header on the box. Turn the switch ON, and confirm that the 5V reading drops to about 5.06VDC. (Note: If the DC voltage drops dramatically (e.g. 4.5V or lower) then there is a problem on one of the power modules, so turn the switch off and tag the units. This is unlikely.) Leave the multimeter negative lead in the Ref test point, and use the positive lead to measure the DC voltage at each of the yellow test points, which correspond to the ®A, B, C, NR (neutral regulator), and BC (Battery Converter) current sensors. For two modules, the nominal value should be 2.450VDC. All of the test point readings should be no more than +0.015VDC from nominal. For a single module, the nominal value should be 2.400VDC, 40.015VDC. When measuring two modules, if there is an out of range reading, then the modules need to be disconnected and measured separately to identify which module has the problem, ‘Tester_LEM_sensor_directions_170cl08_A
