The basic requirements for planning CT systems may be completely identical for some
systems independent of the version model.
To simplify handling the actual System Planning Guide (PG) a common CT planning
guide was developed. It includes bothcommon information as well as facts indepen-
dent of model or version that are necessary for planning CT systems.
Validity 0
The contents of this System PG address solely technically required planning information
for:
• SOMATOM Sensation family
- SOMATOM Sensation 10
- SOMATOM Sensation 16
- SOMATOM Sensation CARDIAC

CAUTION [ hz_pgdoc_F12G03U01M04 ]
Tripping (e.g. due to cables) can cause injury to the user and pa-
tient.
Risk of injury!
¹ The planning guide describes measures to avoid trip-
ping.
WARNING [ hz_pgdoc_F14G02U01M04 ]
In regions prone to earthquakes, the gantry may fall over during an
earthquake.
Risk of injury!
¹ Observe the special instructions in the planning and
installation guides regarding regions prone to earth-
quake.

Component Description
Gantry and patient The gantry is water-cooled. The generator is integrated into the
table (1) gantry. For this reason, both the generator cabinet and the
high-tension cable are superfluous.
The patient table includes telescopic height adjustments.
Image System (IMS) The IMS (Image System) includes the ICS (Image Control Sys-
and Components (2) tem), the IRS (Image Reconstruction System), the PC key-
board, the mouse and the Control Box.
PC keyboards may be ordered according to country-specific
requirements. The Control Box and the mouse are part of the
IMS component.
The ICS comprises a PC Tower.
The IRS is contained in a Processor cabinet.
Component Description
Control Box Is a console in addition to the standard keyboard of the IMS
and includes all CT-specific operating elements. An intercom
for communicating with the patient, ON/OFF functions, func-
