Hola or ciao! I am the one and only marvelous Christopher Columbus.
Even though I was born in Italy, I sailed for Spain. I asked I the Queen and
King of Portugal in 1482 if I could sail for them. They let me down when they
said no, so I sailed for King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, the Monarchs of
Spain. I had many goals such as to win the race to the Indies to get gold
and spices, to win new land for spain, and also find a new water route west
to Asia. Even though I did not achieve these goals, I did achieve some things
like finding the new world, finding a group of islands south of Florida in the
Caribbean Sea.. All in all I was a very well known explorer and one of the
most famous sailors that explored.

My birthplace is Genoa, Italy, and I was born in 1451.My father was a

wool weaver and my mother was a homeworker. As a little kid I always had
wanted to sail or work on a ship.

When I got older I went on an exploration. Some details about my

exploration are that I brought 90 men with me on my exploration. The king and
queen of Spain gave me three ships the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria. I
was the captain of the Santa Maria. Also a well known fact about my
exploration is that my ships were in a battle. All my ships sank ,but me being
the brave Christopher Columbus I did not drown, I swam to shore!
Other interesting facts about me are that I heard amazing things about
Japan and I had always wanted to go there. I also had a belief that God
made me love the sea, and that he helped me along the way when I was on
my journey.I was married in 1478 to Felipa Perestrello and after we married
we had our son and we called him Diego. My wife shortly died after birth.
After my son got older I was sent to jail in 1500 for an unknown reason so,
while I was in jail I sent my son to the monks.

I am a very well known person and there is even a day set aside just
for me, this is because I was the one who found the new world or South
America and America. I sadly died May 20, 1506.
