1. Compare the 2 orders


DepEd order no. 8, s. 2015 is about the policy guidelines on classroom assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education
Program. It allows the teachers to track and measure learner’s progress and adjusts instruction accordingly.
Classroom assessment informs the learners, as well as their parents and guardians. Learners may also assess
individually or collaboratively as process and measures that may use in formative and summative assessment.
While DepEd order no. O31, s. 2020 supplement the DepEd issues the Interim Policy Guidelines for Assessment and
Grading in Light of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan to provide guidance on the assessment of student
learning and the grading scheme to be adopted this school year despite of the crises we are experiencing. These two
orders requires creative and innovative ways to an optimal learning experience but these two differs from the
components of summative and formative assessment as well as grading system because in the DepEd order no. 8, s.
2015 comprises written works, performance tasks and quarterly assessment while DepEd order no. 031, s. 2020
consists only of written works and performance tasks because quarterly assessment will not be administered this
current school year so it won’t be longer part of the grading system unlike DepEd order no. 8, s. 2015.
