Kept

Christmas day has ended and all we wanted was to eat ice cream. After much persuasion, I managed
to convince my brother and cousins to buy ice cream. Everyone was tired to wash the dishes just yet.
We even used a ladle to dig through the frozen ice cream brought from a convenience store. Until
then, I realized my grandmother who passed away last month had kept numerous spoons in her glass
cabinet which she only uses during special occasions. My cousin took teaspoons enough for all of us
to enjoy our ice cream. I was surprised. I never knew that those teaspoons existed in my 27 years of
existence. All I knew was that there were lots of kitchen wares in that locked cabinet left unused
which my Apu Celia highly treasures. They remained unused and kept to the day we dared to open
and use some of her teaspoons jokingly hoping that she would not get angry if we touched her
kitchenware. All those new and beautiful plates and utensils remained kept. No matter how beautiful
they were, nobody knew about them. These utensils could have been functional, but their utility
stopped inside the glass cabinet.
