Cinematography is defined simply as the illusion of movement by

projecting in rapid fashion, many still pictures. Also known as motion

pictures, movies or moving pictures, cinematography is a product of
nineteenth century ingenuity and experimentation.  The body of this
text deals with the nascent of motion pictures and culminating in the
final decade of the nineteenth century.
According to history data and previous investigations, the father
of cinematography is a Frenchman Louis Le Prince, who produced
and filmed the world’s first successful moving images in Leeds in
October 1888.Later in New York, in November 1890, before a
distinguished audience, Le Prince would present two short films he
had made two years previously in England, which may have been the
earliest moving pictures ever committed to film. The crackly footage
wasn’t all that riveting: one showed scenes of life on Leeds Bridge in
Yorkshire. Horse and cart trundles by in the background and a drove
of people in their Victorian finery walk along the road in front. In
second film, which was shot also in Leeds, two men and two women
round in circle outside a house. Le Prince shot the sequences on a
single-lens camera ha had developed by himself. The creation of the
nascent cinematic apparatus was a hotbed of espionage and double-
dealing as inventors sought to be the first. Moreover, the machine in
Le prince’s patent diagrams is effectively a precursor to the modern
moving image camera.
The context takes an extra layer of intrigue given by Le Prince’s
mysterious disappearance in France in 1890. Le prince was seen
alighting the Dijon-Paris train but did not arrive at the other end and
his body was never found. As a result of those uncanny events, all Le
Prince’s achievements were attributed to Lumiere brothers, who were
called pioneers of cinema, who took over all the Prince’s glory and
discredited his existence outright.
Considering the development of modern cinematography, there
is no question that this branch of art is evolving year by year, creating
unbelievable settings, computer graphics, unforgettable tracks,
melodies and songs. It’s quite lucrative business, which needs much
time and effort to create and produce a masterpiece of
cinematography. But it’s definitely worth it.
