George Mason University, influences the next generation of future scientists by
After completing her master’s degree, she began working for the U.S. Army as a
pharmacist, helping soldiers with post traumatic stress disorder after the attack on Sept.
11, 2001.
Realizing her passion for teaching, she went back to school for her doctorate
degree, working in a career to encourage students to gain inspiration in the world of
science.
Masterson chose Mason because of the extensive courses of study for students
majoring in science.
Her passion is evident. She studied biology as a teenager and completed
research projects as an adult
Projects included finding medications containing gluten and extracting those from
patients with gluten allergies. Her determination leads her to executing the project
independently.
Teaching is Masterson’s form of fulfillment. Her commitment on campus is
consistently impacting students to pursue science outside of the classroom.
“Science is the world we live in. It’s all around us.” She proclaimed.
GMU is Virginia’s largest public research university, providing Dr. Masterson with
the tools needed for inspiring future scientists.
