System Components
• Downhole Tool
• Brings all transducer measurements to a single point.
– Communicates sequentially the measurements to
surface.
– Connects to power cable via motor
• Downhole Communication
– This is the ESP motor cable to the surface
System Components
• Surface Choke
– Separates the DC signal from the high voltage AC
– Isolates system in event of fault
• Surface Panel
– Monitors the signal on the HV cable
– Calculates the measurement using calibration figures
– Outputs data in customer format
– Provides Power for downhole tool

Diode – So when voltage is reversed current

leakage can be detected.

Choke or Filter – to filter out any AC that goes

into the gauge – but does allow DC
Zena Diode – will not allow voltage to exceed
140 Volts

Multisensor
The Multisensor measures:
• Intake Pressure
• Discharge Pressure (optional)
• Intake temperature
• Motor temperature
• Flowrate (optional)
• ESP Vibration
• Cable Insulation

Carrying Points
Downhole System
• Downhole sensors are calibrated to international
standards
• Data is transmitted via the motor power cable to the
surface
• The downhole electronics are proven for their
operation in this environment.
• Operational limits 125C and 5600PSI (10000 PSI in
high pressure version)
Integrated Surface Panel (ISP)
The ISP provides:
• The power for the Multisensor
• Signal decoding for the Multisensor
• Data display and storage
• ESP protection though Alarm
and Trip functions
• An interface to customers SCADA
units
Choke Console 1/8 amp

• The choke provides high

voltage isolation between the
high voltage of the ESP
system and the ISP
• The Choke can be supplied
either with or without an
enclosure

Measurement: Sensors
Intake Pressure
• Measured using a 400 Bar sealed strain gauge
pressure transducer. The voltage output from the
transducer is near linear with pressure.
• High pressure option with a 690 Bar transducer
Measurement: Sensors
Discharge Pressure
• Measured in the same way as intake pressure but
with a 1/4 inch sealed control line extending to above
the pump discharge
Measurement: Sensors
Intake Temperature
• This is measured by utilizing the semi-conductor
temperature sensor which is both linear and accurate
in temperature measurement. The voltage output
varies with temperature. The temperature sensor is
calibrated in an oven.
Measurement: Sensors
Motor Temperature
• Either motor winding with a thermocouple fitted in the
motor winding, or motor oil with the thermocouple
fitted into the oil at base of the motor.
• Measured using J-type thermocouples and works by
means of a temperature difference system.
Measurement: Sensors
Vibration
• Measured by means of a calibrated accelerometer
fitted inside the MultiSensor
Measurement: Sensors
Flowrate

• Turbine

• Flowmeter located above the discharge of

the Pump and connected to the
MultiSensor by means of a 3/8” 4core
control line.

Rapid Sample Rate
• Maximum Sample Rate is one reading every 20
seconds.
• Rapid Sample Rate RSR allows for updates at 1
