Research Design

Research design is intended to offer an appropriate framework to a study. This report relies on a
combination of descriptors that is compatible with the research objectives. The research is
designed under seven categories. These are listed below:
1. The degree to which the research question has been crystallized
Formal Study: We will thoroughly emphasize on formal study as we are doing our study based
on
a previous article “The Determinants of Capital Structure Choice: Evidence from Polish
Companies” where the author has clearly defined the hypothesis on debt to total asset, asset
structure, financing preference or situation, growth, size, and business risk. The guidelines and
measurement techniques have already been mentioned. Our aim is to strengthen the existing
report
and address the research questions identified in the base article.
2. Method of Data Collection
Monitoring: To gather data for our research, we will monitor five listed companies Square
Textiles
Limited, Envoy Textiles Limited, Desh Garments Limited, Saiham Textiles Mills Limited, and
Anlima Yarn Dyeing Limited for five years. There will be no human contact. We will not raise
any questions or communicate with anyone.
3. The power of the researcher to produce effects in the variables under study
Ex Post Facto: We will do ex post facto based on someone else’s report. We have no control
over
the variables and cannot manipulate them. We can only analyze someone else’s data and report
what is happening or what has already happened.
4. Purpose of Study
Causal-Explanatory: Our study objective will be causal-explanatory. By observing data from the
past, we will define, report, and explain the reason 'why' the incident occurred. We will find out
how the variables relate but will not develop any new hypothesis for the study.

5. Time Dimension
Longitudinal: We will observe the performance of the five companies we have selected from the
textile industry, from the year 2014 to 2018 and try to track their changes over time. So, for our
research, we will do longitudinal study.
6. Topical Scope
Statistical Study: The topical scope for this research would be statistical study. We evaluate
quantitative data in our research which is the breadth rather than the depth. By testing the
hypothesis, we attempt to evaluate their characteristics.
7.

Research Environment
Simulation: Simulation is a perfect fit for conducting our research. We will replicate the reality
in our report and represent it in mathematical model.
8. Sampling
8.1 Sampling Method
For this report, we are using a stratified simple random sampling.
8.2 Sampling Unit and Sampling Frame
We have chosen five companies from the textile industry, which are:
1. Square Textiles Limited
2. Envoy Textiles Limited
3. Desh Garments Limited
4. Saiham Textiles Mills Limited
5. Anlima Yarn Dyeing Limited
The above companies are listed in the Dhaka Stock Exchange
