Before Paulus could strike towards Stalingrad, he had to clear the Bend of the

Great Don River of Soviet forces. He therefore launched his forces northwards - in
Operation Nord - aiming to defeat Kriuchenkin’s 4th Tank Army and capture
bridgeheads across the Don. Today, we'll see these events unfold.
