1. The speed of an average aeroplane (that carries passengers) is 575 miles per
hour (relative to the surface of the Earth).

The speed of the earth's rotation is 1000 miles per hour at the surface of the
earth. Yet we don't seem to notice it.
Why?

2. Why does an aeroplane get lifted into the air?

3. Why does an hour have 60 minutes (or a minute have 60 seconds)? WHy not have 100
minutes in an hour or 100 seconds in a minute?

4. The speed of sound in air is about 1100 feet per second or one-third of a
kilometers per second or 767 miles per hour, faster than all land vehicles and
commercial airplanes. The speed of light is about a million times more. Although a
bullet and many fighter planes can go faster than sound, no man made objects come
close to the speed of light. Why does light travel so fast?
