Hello everyone. Today, I will lecture onthe blessings of the new covenant.

Continuing on from the previous lecture, I am talking about the blessing of the new
covenant. In the previous lecture, in the blessing of the new covenant, I talked about “having
the boldness to go out to God by the blood of Jesus”. “Having the boldness to enter the
holiest.”As I gave that lecture, we were able to see the amazing fact that we truly received
boldness to go out to Jesus and go out to God through the new covenant. Next, I want to
talk about how we are under grace and not under the Law through the new covenant.Where
were we under before? Right now I am talking about the blessing of the new covenant.
What is one of the blessings of the new covenant? We are under grace and not under the
Law. We received the blessing of being under grace. As I give this lecture, I thought about
this. We were bound to this Law and also to religion for a very long time. But we are now
freed from that Law and are under grace. Is that correct? However, we have a certain allergic
reaction to the Law. Why? It’s because we fell into a religious life for a long time and suffered
under that Law. That is why we think we must keep the Law. Do we call that obsession?
People that lived a fervent religious life always kept the Law, confronted the Law, and
belonged under the Law. That is why they have an allergic reaction to the Law. I am one of
those people. As I give this lecture today, let’s organize one by one the things that we
misunderstand and the things that we are wrongly thinking of. I don’t know if we can
organize it well, but I hope you can get it clearly organized in your hearts with the Word
through this lecture.

Let’s open to Romans chapter 6. It’s Romans chapter 6 verse 14, “For sin shall not have
dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”Why can’t sin have
dominion over us? Why can’t sin rule over us? It’s because we are under grace and not
under the Law. We used to be under the Law before. When we used to be in the Law, sin
was able to rule over us through the Law. But we are now set free from the Law. It’s because
we are freed from the Law. We used to be under the rule of another country. Korea used to
be under the rule of Japan. Kenya, where I currently live, was under the rule of England.
When they were under that rule and under that law, they were under that rule and under
that control. But now we are free from that rule and that law. That is why they can no longer
rule over us. Do you understand that? Because we used to be under that law, we were ruled
over by it and that law was over us, but we are now free from that law, that strength, and
that power. Thus, we are not under that law and that law doesn’t have dominion over us or
rule over us.

To free us from this Law, there is something Jesus did in Galatians chapter 4. Let’s look at
Galatians chapter 4 verse 4. It’s Galatians chapter 4 verse 4, “But when the fullness of the
time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.”“But when
the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under
the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of
sons.”God sent us the Spirit of His Son to make us His sons. That’s what it says in verse 6.
“Crying, Abba, Father.”It’s the same Spirit of the Son like the Son. God sent the Spirit of His
Son into our midst. God the Father redeemed those under the Law to make them His sons.
In other words, for those under the Law, Jesus Christ was born of a woman, Mary. There is a
reason why he was born of a woman and made under the Law. To redeem those under the
Law, he redeemed all the sins of those under the Law. He saved them. He redeemed them.
He had to be born under the Law to do that. What is the reason for Jesus to be born under
the Law? That is to save us and free us that are under the Law.We were saved from sin and
saved from all the powers of the Law through the cross of Jesus Christ. Christ is not under
the Law. Where are we under? All the curse and all the demands of the Law when we were
under the Law were all accomplished by Jesus Christ in our place. Do you understand that?
Because Jesus Christ accomplished all the curse and demands of the Law in our place and
because he saved us from the Law, we are not under the Law, but under the grace of Christ.
This is the blessing of God given through the new covenant. We are not under the Law.
Through the redemption of Jesus Christ, we are free from the Law. Through Jesus who
perfectly kept all the curse of the Law and all the works demanded by the Law, we were
freed from the Law and entered Christ.

Let’s turn a few pages to Romans chapter 7. It’s Romans chapter 7 verse 14, Romans chapter
7 verse 14, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”It says
here, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”Let’s go back a
little and look at verse 4. “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by
the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the
dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”It says “go” here. Why does it say to go?
When we were under the Law and when we belonged to the Law, we couldn’t go anywhere.
There is something we can clearly see here. Let’s read verse 5. “For when we were in the
flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth
fruit unto death.”By the body of Christ, in Romans chapter 7 verse 4, it says, ye also are
become dead to the law by the body of Christ. “By the body of Christ.” Christ died on the
cross, right? Through death, we died to the Law. When Christ died to the Law, we also died
to the Law with Christ. The same word is in Galatians chapter 4. We are not under the Law
because Christ died to the Law. The death demanded by the Law and the price of sin were all
paid for and Christ accomplished and kept all the demands of the Law with his body. He
accomplished all the demands of the Law and he died to the Law. We died to the Law by the
body of Christ. We died to the Law. We died to the Law together in Christ so that the Law
will no longer have anything to do with us. Thus, we are not under the Law.

Was it possible or impossible for the people of God that were under the Law to receive
salvation or receive the blessing of God by keeping the Law? It was impossible. However,
there is one thing we must clearly organize here before we continue on to the next part.
What is that part? Did Jesus Christ come to this world for us and destroy the Law or
complete the Law? What did it say? It said, “I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” The
Jesus here kept the Law and he respected the Law. Jesus kept the Law and respected the
Law for us, but people misunderstand the part where “we are not under the Law”.“That
means we don’t need to keep the Ten Commandments or the Law anymore.” They
misunderstand it like this. But Jesus kept the Law and he respected it. Why don’t we clearly
organize this?Jesus Christ set us free from the curse of the Law. Because we can’t live
according to the Law or keep the Law, we have to receive the curse of the Law. But Jesus
who lived by the Law, kept the Law, and respected the Law, went through all the curse of the
Law. He received the curse in our place and set us free from the curse of the Law. We are no
longer under the Law. We don’t have the curse of the Law. Why? It’s because Jesus Christ
accomplished all the demands of the Law.Please pay attention to this lecture. So, God did
this for us to live according to the Law and keep it. Are you able to understand that? Jesus
made us able to live according to the Law and keep it. This is a very sensitive part. Let’s take
a careful look at this. It’s Romans chapter 8 verse 3, “For what the law could not do, in that it
was weak through the flesh, God.” It said that God can do what the Law cannot do. “Sending
his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.”There is
one thing we should look at here. When the Law could not do it, when the flesh was weak,
God did what the Law could not do. What did He do? He sent Jesus Christ and condemned
sin in the flesh, and accomplished the demands of the Law. What is the demand of the Law?
The wages of sin is death; it’s a curse. But God sent Jesus Christ. God condemned sin in the
flesh of Jesus Christ and accomplished all the demands of the Law. Then under a legal
meaning, we are not under the Law. All the demands of the Law were accomplished and
that curse was received. That is why we are no longer under the Law. But what does Romans
chapter 6 tell us? Let’s look at Romans chapter 6 verse 1. “What shall we say then? Shall we
continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live
any longer therein?”Shall we, that are dead to sin, continue in sin, that grace may abound?
In other words, can we sin whenever we want because we are not under the Law? We can’t.
The Lord didn’t die for our sins to give us the freedom to commit sin. Once a while people
think wrongly like this. Because we are not under the Law and Jesus died for all of our sins,
there are people that think as if we were given the freedom that it’s okay to sin. That is
misunderstanding the Bible. That is not true faith. He didn’t give us the freedom to sin. Did
the Lord bear the cross and wash our sins to give us the freedom to live however we want
and sin whenever we want? That isn’t it. That’s not it at all. In this Word of God, to make us
live according to the Law and to keep the Word, we were set free from the curse of the Law
and redeemed from under the Law. It’s the will of God to make us live according to the holy
Law and Word of God and keep it.

Let’s take another look here. When we divide the Law, there is the sin offering of the Old
Testament; the Law on offerings. The Law on offerings was accomplished on the cross.
Eternal redemption, eternal offering was made and as eternal redemption was
accomplished, there is no need to make offerings anymore. That’s what was said. The Law
on offerings has ended. There is no need to make those offerings anymore because the
perfect eternal offering was made through Jesus Christ. The next thing when we speak of the
Law is the Law of the Commandments. Why don’t we clearly organize the Law of the
Commandments? In the new covenant, we can see that God is doing a new thing concerning
the Law. In other words, where did God write the Law before? Was it the Ten
Commandments? Where was the Law of God written? It was written on the tables of stone.
He wrote it on the tables of stone. That is to say, the Law was on the exterior; it was on the
outside. But this is how God works now. Let’s look at Hebrews chapter 8 verse 10. This Law
of the Commandments used to be written on the tables of stone. It used to be on the
outside. It was on the tables of stone on the outside. But now, why don’t we look at
Hebrews chapter 8 verse 10? “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, saith the Lord.” A new covenant is made. What covenant is being
made here? The Law of God in the Bible is, “I will put my laws into their mind, and write
them in their hearts.”He will put them in our minds and write them in our hearts. The Law of
God is put in our minds and written in our hearts. There is the Law of God that was written
on the tables of stone in the Old Testament, and, why don’t we call it the tables of the
heart? What was put in our minds and written in our hearts is the new covenant. Through
the new covenant, God is doing a new thing concerning the Law. In other words, “I will put
my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” We are under grace and not under
the Law. But there are people that think we received the freedom to commit sin. That is the
thought of Satan. People that think we have the freedom to sin because we are under grace
and not under the Law, people that sin without hesitation, and people that are bold in
sinning are ignorant people that don’t know the new covenant. People that sin without
hesitation, people that are free to sin, or people that say or have the heart, “I’m under grace
and not under the Law, and all my sins are forgiven,” are people that either don’t know the
new covenant or are ignorant people. These are clearly ignorant people that don’t know that
this is the new covenant made and ratified by the blood of Jesus Christ, and that is a heart
and behavior that can only come from an ignorant heart.

One of the things done by the new covenant is that God gave us the external Law and
demanded us to keep it. But were the people of God able to keep it? If you read down from
Jeremiah chapter 31 verse 31, God says, “My covenant they brake, although I was an
husband unto them.”God became their husband and made that Law and covenant, and told
them to keep the Law, but they were not able to keep it. Therefore, rather than demanding
them to keep the external Law, God put that Law into our minds and wrote them in our
hearts. This is the new covenant. That word comes out in Hebrews chapter 10 verse 16 as
well. This is witnessed by the Holy Spirit. Let’s look at Hebrews chapter 10 verse 15,
“Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before.” Hebrews
chapter 10 verse 16, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith
the Lord.”This is the new covenant. “This is the covenant that I will make with them” is the
new covenant. “I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.”The
Law of God is put in their minds and in their hearts, and written in their hearts and in their
minds. It’s put in their minds and written in their hearts. This is the work done by God.
Because He put it in our hearts and in our minds, and wrote them in our minds, He put them
in our hearts that we may have the heart of wanting to obey the Law and obey the
commandments of God.The Law of God makes one to be happy and joyful. So, the
commandments of God are not heavy to a born again Christian. Why is that? The external
Law used to demand us to perform it and keep it, but we can’t listen to those demands or
keep those demands. Why? We are people with sin, the desires of sin.But our sins were
forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ and we were sanctified through the blood of Jesus
Christ. We were saved and set free from the demands of the Law and all the bondage and
curse to keep the Law. We no longer have the duty to keep the Law.Then what did God do
through the new covenant? The Law of God was written in our minds and put in our hearts.
So, the commandment of Christ is not heavy. Let’s look in 1John. It’s 1John chapter 5 verse 3,
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are
not grievous.”“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous.”Is the commandment of God heavy or light to a Christian?
This is light. It’s because those commandments were engraved into the tables of our hearts
and minds. Because those commandments were engraved into the tables of our hearts and
minds, they are light and not heavy.

Let’s look at Psalms 1 and hear the spiritual life of David, his song. Should we memorize it? In
Psalms 1, does it say, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly”?
“Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his
law doth he meditate day and night.”This is the spiritual life of David. If we look in Psalms 1
from verse 1 through 6, “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night.”Every time I read that word, I think, “Why did David delight in the
law of the Lord and meditate day and night?”I said in the beginning of this lecture that we
have an allergic reaction to the word “Law” and we think we have to refuse it. But this Law is
the holy law of God. The commandments are the holy commandments given by the Lord.
But this was the law that was engraved on the tables of stone on the outside. We tried to
keep that, but we couldn’t keep it. It’s because we couldn’t accomplish the demands of that
Law. But Jesus kept it all and he set us free from all the curse of the Law. After he gave us the
righteousness he completed, what did he do through the new covenant? He wrote the Law
in our hearts and minds, and he put the Law in our hearts. The law of God was given to us.
So, in the new covenant, the work God did in Christ was through the Holy Spirit, right?
Because he put the Law in our hearts and minds through the Holy Spirit, David had a heart
of liking the Law. He said he delighted in the Law. He said he delighted in the Law and
meditated day and night. The heart of liking the Law and the heart of keeping the Law, that
wish was made inside of our hearts and we were given strength to be able to do that. That is
the new covenant. The Law and the commandments are no longer a heavy burden to us.
They are light. We used to keep it out of our duty to keep it, but we now delight in the law of
God from our hearts and we are pleased with the law of God. Just like the confession of
David’s faith, “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day
and night.” The heart of keeping and obeying it, that wish was made inside of us and God
gave us the strength to be able to do that.

Personally, I really like this word. It says in 2Corinthians chapter 3 verse 3 that it was not
written in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. The law and commandment of
God used to be written in tables of stone, but now it’s written in fleshy tables of the heart.
The heart of God is put in the heart, the law of God is put in the heart, and it’s written in the
mind. Because the Holy Spirit accomplished it and because the law of God was put in the
heart and written in the mind in the new covenant through Jesus Christ, God made us to
keep that Law by giving us the heart to delight in that Law, want to obey that Law, and want
to follow that Law. If you look in Philippians chapter 2 verses 12 and 13, the one that works
in us for the good pleasure of God, the one that works with a wish is God. Consequently,
God gives the strength and power to be able to do so. This is the blessing of the new
covenant. We are free from all the curse and demands of the Law, and we are not under the
Law. We are not under any duty of the Law or under the Law. The Holy Spirit entered our
hearts and the new covenant is made in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.“I will put my
laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” In Hebrews chapter 8, “I will put my
laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.”The holy law of God is now in our
hearts. So, through this new covenant, we are pleased, delighted, and obey the law of God.
Following it becomes joy to us. It’s light for us and a blessing. We are no longer under the
Law or the demands of the Law. We now have the law of God written in our hearts and
minds through the Holy Spirit. God newly made us to follow and obey God, and to be able to
live a life of pleasing God. Because that wonderful grace is inside of you and me, the life of
obeying the law of God is a joy and blessing in our life. I hope that blessed grace be inside of
you and me.

I will end here. Goodbye.
