Anatomical atlas of the tubarial glands Valstar et al.

The following pages show the anatomical area containing the


tubarial glands, indicated on anatomically registered CT and MR
images at 2mm slice intervals. Purple = left tubarial gland, green
= right tubarial gland.

The borders of the gland area were derived from PSMA PET/CT
and MR images in healthy volunteers, in coherence with 3D
reconstructed histology from a cadaver study.

Definitions of the gland area borders:


- Cranial: Skull base caudally of the sphenoid sinus
- Caudal: The level of the base of the uvula.
- Lateral: The skull base at the cranial side and
fatty tissue at the caudal side.
- Anterior: The skull base at the cranial side and
the dorsolateral pharyngeal wall at the caudal side.
- Posterior: The prevertebral long musculature.
