This document presents an anatomical atlas of the tubarial glands using CT and MRI images with 2mm slice intervals. The borders of the gland area were derived from PET/CT and MR images in healthy volunteers and are consistent with 3D reconstructed histology. The atlas shows images from Z positions 0-32mm defining the cranial, caudal, lateral, anterior, and posterior borders of the tubarial gland area.

Anatomical atlas of the tubarial glands Valstar et al.
The following pages show the anatomical area containing the
tubarial glands, indicated on anatomically registered CT and MR images at 2mm slice intervals. Purple = left tubarial gland, green = right tubarial gland.
The borders of the gland area were derived from PSMA PET/CT and MR images in healthy volunteers, in coherence with 3D reconstructed histology from a cadaver study.
Definitions of the gland area borders:
- Cranial: Skull base caudally of the sphenoid sinus - Caudal: The level of the base of the uvula. - Lateral: The skull base at the cranial side and fatty tissue at the caudal side. - Anterior: The skull base at the cranial side and the dorsolateral pharyngeal wall at the caudal side. - Posterior: The prevertebral long musculature.
