The Bucegi Mountains are situated in the

east
part of The Meridionali Carpathians. In north, they
are separated from The Dihamului Mountains by
The Cerbului Valley and The Glăjăriei Valley. In
west, they are edged by The Brateşului Valley. In
east, the beautiful Prahova Valley separates this
mountains from The Baiului Mountains and in south The Bucegi Mountains
adjoin The Subcarpaţi and The Gurguiatu Mountain.
Their altitude is between 1000 and 2505 m. The biggest peak is
Omu (2505 m high).
There is a monument on The
Caraiman Mountain built up for the heroes
who gave their lives in The First World War
called The Heroes’ Cross. There is also a huge
castle (The Peleş Castle) built by the king
Carol which can be visited every day.
The Plateau of Bucegi is an
important point of touring attraction. It is represented by The Sfinx and The
Babele. At 3 km far from there is The Ialomiţei Cave where it was build a
monastery. There are also 34 interesting caves to visit which delight you.
In The Bucegi Mountains there were
built many chalets and 2 funicular railways in
Sinaia and Buşteni to facilitate the tourists’ access.
On the highest peaks you can see an animal
protected by law: the chamois.
I think the most wonderful site to visit is
The Urlătoarea Falls, with its spectacular views
and sounds.
