It is very difficult to advertising in China. Chinese customers are immune to advertisements and they do
not prefer foreign products. China’s environment is very tough. They have completely different rules,
different ecosystem and especially a vastly different language. Many foreign companies fail to do
business in China. It is because they cannot overcome these issues and fail to understand the consumer
behavior. Chinese customer behavior is different. In China, consumer behavior has changed and there is
an increase of travel and social media. The rapid changes in the consumers should be understood
because it will affect our company. Here are the trends of consumer behavior:

1) The preference of domestic products: At present, consumers are relying on the domestic products
due to some past scandals of foreign companies. Domestic brands have captured the market.

2) Rise of e-commerce: e-commerce is rising in China. It is a trend in China now. Lots of consumers are
buying products from online. So online advertising should be carefully done so that we can use this
platform to reach our target customers.

Online Advertising:

China usually does not give any scope to foreign things to enter in the country. There is no activation of
Facebook, Google, Youtube. But luckily, there are some similar channels active in China. We can take the
help of these channels to advertise our company. Since our company is a telecommunication company,
our target customer is gadget freak customers who always look up to and interested in new gadgets.

● Baidu: Baidu is the Google of China. They have few similarities and some are even identical. Baidu’s
ads and bidding methods are same as Google’s. It has the display network and search network. So Baidu

● We Chat: We Chat is the most popular instant messaging application in China. So It can be helpful and
a big medium of advertising. We can promote our company by moment ads and banner ads. The age,

● Toutiao and Youku: Both of them are similar to Youtube. These are online video streaming sites.
Advertising can be done by effective video ads which have very limited targeting (7 ways to advertise

Other Advertising Tools:

● Ad agencies: We can appoint the top and most efficient Chinese ad agency and we can make them
work on our TV commercials. This will help us to reach the mass audience to gain popularity.
● Chinese influencers: There are Chinese social media influencers or celebrities that the Chinese people
admire; they are the key to attract the customers. These influencers also can be counted in the PR list
for a better marketing of our company.

● Print media: The print media is Chinese renowned newspapers and magazines. This will help to print
ads about our company with description and its products.

● Participating in tech fair: It is a very effective way to promote our company by participating a tech fair
where we can show live demonstration with necessary information about our company. This will be
provided to the visitors.

● Sponsor business seminars and other related events: Sponsoring business seminars and other
related events is an effective way can be a successful medium to reach the men and women of elite class
and might also help to find out PRs among them.

● Billboard, leaflet, and brochure: It is important to fix a Billboard’s location because it grabs people’s
attention and what we put in a billboard to make it interesting to these people. We can distribute the
leaflets and brochures in active points of the cities where gadget freak people visit the most.

Nonetheless, to achieve these goals we must focus on learning Chinese language, Mandarin and others.
Because Chinese people strongly believes in nationalism. Therefore, we can connect with them in their
way because we need them, they do not need us.

Staffing
Staffing is one of the major operations of a business. To achieve company’s efficiency as well as its
financial stability, good staffs should be recruited. It is one of the major factors for competitive
sustainability in a business. We are going to go for strategies that would help us build a strong
competitive workforce. We would recruit employees not only from the US but also from China. We will
hire local employees because they know the local cultural and business practices better. They know the
local customers’ needs too.

The things that we can to do in order to ensure a competitive staff are:

 We can make partnership with the educational institutions to develop recruitment efforts

 We can emphasize on the interactive and cognitive skills in communication of the candidates

We can recruit employees with good technological and problem-solving skills

 We can emphasize on the external recruitment process the most.

 We can offer more on-the-job training to encourage employees.

 We can build the competitive compensation policy.


We would try to follow proper recruitment process to make sure that meets our industry demand.
Because this would help us in cost reduction and increasing profitability as well.

Conclusion

After observing the advantages and disadvantages and the economy of China, we have found out that
our hypothesis is correct. Verizon Wireless has a great opportunity to start up a branch in China. Chinese
companies already have an impact all over Asia. So expanding business in China would also help us to
gain recognition and acquire customer base throughout the whole Asia. Verizon Wireless is doing great
in domestic market, so expanding our business in the largest continent of the world would be a proper
step in expanding the business.
