The author of the passage defines the science fiction as an imaginary life in the space, and he talked

about the films that show different space aliens which may be nice or terrible, and when they invade us
or if the earth astronauts visit the other world. One the other hand, the professor of the lecture image
our life like fish in a far lake in a forest, and one fish think that it’s the only fish in the world, because it
hasn’t seen other fish.

The author says that we have intelligent life because of difference between the sun and other stars in
heat, radiation and size. While the lecturer said that there are 400 billion stars, if one in a thousand has
a planet, there are 400 million planets in the galaxy.

The author explains the special characteristics of the earth like the distance between it and the sun, type
of its atmosphere and availability of the water. Because of our special conditions, our life is intelligent.
While the lecturer says that the life developed under difficult conditions in the past, so its development
doesn’t need ideal conditions.

The lecturer supposes there is one intelligent in a thousand species, so there may be 400 thousands
intelligent in the galaxy, but we haven’t heard about them because the scientists doesn’t have interest
with communication in the other world. On the other hand, the author disagrees with that, because we
have radio signals and television signals in a space for a long time, and we haven’t received any message
before.

The author agrees with the intelligent life of the earth, because of the characteristics of the earth and
the sun, and not receiving any message from the imaginary space species. While the lecturer thinks that
the availability of other life in the galaxy is possible.
