not be the lack of work in the future, but the
scarcity of skills that new jobs may need.
Industry 4.0 applies to the fourth revolution in
industry. It calls for a dynamic shift in how all
feature of industry and manufacturing are
performed. Global production will be
transformed by a new wave of global
technology. The standard would be
internationalization, in all areas of business and
industry. Countries are no longer able to remain
confined within their boundaries, but they must
become international citizens. Leaders would
need to be critical thinkers, problem solvers,
and be able to connect around the globe in this
new age. In short, they need to be taught
liberally. But how is this going to affect
education? There will be a need for potential
workers to be highly trained in new technology,
but also as critically, in the principles associated
with the use of those technologies. We must
not only have the potential to improve the
technology in the future, but also to know
whether, when and when to use the techno.
That kind of thought is reflective as well as
interdisciplinary. Schools must rapidly reinvent
themselves. They need to adapt to the
requirements of the RI4 and have the duty to
come out of its shell, its hermetic spaces and try
to provide as many possibilities as possible by
developing the necessary contexts to prepare
students for potential jobs. The problem may

different knowledge, what they really mean and
how they can create synergies between
different subjects to develop something that
links to the real world. This brings us to another
very important point: students need to work in
a project setting and they need to work with
their peers, their teachers and the outside
world from there. They need to develop new
ways of communicating; to develop critical
thinking and complex problem solving, they
need to be placed in front of complex situations
and to learn how to be innovative, inventive,
adaptable, versatile, and to develop brain
plasticity.
In other words, Industry 4.0 would need the
world to develop a new form of worker.
Industry leaders and administrators of
tomorrow need to have different skill sets to
adapt, navigate, and take advantage of Industry
4.0. They need to be strategic thinkers, problem
solvers, innovators, communicators, and to
provide leadership motivated by value. They
must be able to see the consequences for
society for the use of that technology outside
the technology at play. The information worker
is characterized by these traits. They need to
know the technology, but they need to be able
to meet and overcome all facets of the
problems this technology poses. A fresh
approach to education needs this kind of
leader.
