Introduction
The article review that I read is regarding the studies of “Entrepreneurship”. As I am
currently studying in business, so it is important for me to always learnt everything regarding
entrepreneurship because it might help me in the future. It is also one of the important
business concepts for every entrepreneur to know and follow. So, by doing a review on this
article, it can help me improve my knowledge in my studies especially in this field. Other
than that, this review had led me to know about the history of entrepreneurship and some
definitions from a different study. The other key elements that were discussed is some
discussion and empirical studies on antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurship. It will
continue with the link between entrepreneurship and information and communicating
technologies. Finally, the study on recent developments and possible future trends in the
field.

Findings and Discussion

I. Overall purpose

The overall purpose of this article is to know the strong relationship between the two
components which is information and communication technologies in the entrepreneurship
field.

II. Ideas that were communicated in article

Firstly, a brief history of Entrepreneurship has been discussed. The word of entrepreneurship
was invented by an Irish French economist, Richard Cantillon. He stated that entrepreneurial
activity includes buying from a certain price and the risk that is relating to selling from an
uncertain price. The definition of Cantillon has be extended by Jean Baptiste Say, and French
economist by adding a statement of “bringing factors of production together”.

A breath of fresh air also has been brought by an Austrian-born American economists, Joseph
Alois Schumpeter where his conceptualizes entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship as change
agents in an economy and as situation respectively that economy totally improves. According
to him, there is innovation in the heart of concept of entrepreneurship. In addition, he defines
that enterprises as making new combinations. A natural consequence of this definition,
entrepreneur is the person who creates this new combination.
In 1985, Gifford Pinchot who is an American entrepreneur coined the concept of
“intrapreneurship” where it can be defines as the development, within a large corporation, of
internal markets and relatively small autonomous or semiautonomous business units that
produce products, services or technologies by employing firm’s resources in a unique way.

Secondly, it has discussed about antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurial behaviour.

Some macro level factors such as culture, religion, trust, financial and educational systems,
political and legal institutions may have some impacts on entrepreneurship processes even
though it sometimes has been criticized by some scholars. For example, there’s a hypnotized
that the relationship between two variables such as individual resources such as human, social
and financial capital and new business activity moderated by formal institutions and informal
institutions. According to Hefner in a similar vein, success in business of overseas Chinese
may be explained by traditionally strong ties among members of Chinese families and
necessity of being successful as a minority group.

On the other hand, another stream that mainly takes support from the field of psychology
investigates the relationship between micro factor such as personality traits, gender and
entrepreneurial intentions and success. For example, a positive and significant relationship
between entrepreneurial behaviour and some personality traits such as generalized self-
efficiency, innovativeness, a need for achievement and stress tolerance has been found. In
conclusion, entrepreneurial may have impacts at micro and macro levels.

Thirdly, the definitions of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) was
discussed where it defined as electronic means of capturing, processing, story and
communicating information. ICT may be input, output or a part of entrepreneurship
processes. As an input, ICT may be used to increase entrepreneurial competencies. Some ICT
tools such as mobile phones, internet, video conferencing can be used to enable the
competencies by the students.

In addition, ICTs may be part of entrepreneurial process. Extant entrepreneur can access data
and information by UCT that they need to increase their performance. For example, a foreign
entrepreneur who plans to enter Malaysia market can collect information and data about the
conditions and how Malaysia market is operated from the web. It shows that ICT may be
output of an entrepreneurial process as well.
III. Impressions of usefulness of the article.

There are strength and weaknesses after reviewing this article. For the strength, I think this
article has lot of useful sources in order to gather all the input so that it become one article.
The content is quite wide and can help us to increase our knowledge in this fields. For the
weaknesses, I think the choice of words used is heavy and quite hard for the readers to
understand. The sentences also have low structure and it makes the readers need to read them
for a few times for a better understanding.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the whole review gave reader a lot of input to gain more knowledge regarding
the Entrepreneurship study. Most importantly, the readers can think further on the other
things that related to entrepreneurship.
