Description: now that I'm an Erasmus student I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people. One day, when I was partying, I met a Slovak boy who is also an Erasmus student here in Estonia. We were talking in general about life when, for some reason, we ended up talking about the fact that in his country when a woman and a man get married, the woman acquires the surname of the man and to this surname is added a termination that refers to "belonging to", which means that the woman now belongs to that man. This was something that surprised me a lot as I thought it was something that was no longer practiced, but apparently yes. Time: September of 2020. Location: It happened in a bar in Tartu (Estonia), while I was partying with my friends. It was…: Leisure. Importance: I chose this experience since it is something that surprised me a lot. Was it because...: It made me think about something I had not thought about before and it was the most recent experience of that kind. It surprised me and, at the same time, it angered me since I thought this wasn’t happening anymore and shows that there is still inequality between men and women.
