Act III A Doll’s House Responses

1.) Kristine rejected Krogstad because she had to save her helpless mother and

siblings by marrying a man with wealth. She accepts him now because she has no

one to care for. Their union is harmonious while the Helmers are forced to be

together.

2.) She decided to leave the letter in the mailbox so that the truth would come up in

the Helmer family.

3.) Nora does not care about Rank’s death but Torvald does care. Rank is no use to

Nora that is why she does not care about him.

4.) Torvald becomes mad that Nora did not tell him her little secret. Nora responds

with sorrow that Torvald did not “do the wonderful thing” which is to take the

blame on himself. I would agree with Torvald because Nora has put him in this

situation without communicating with him the truth.

5.) She learns that Torvald always treated her like a doll as once her father did. She

believes that men control her. She believes her whole marriage is a lie. Torvald

and her father erased her identity as a woman. She decides to leave to find her

true identity.
