MY TYPE OF DIET

(PARAGRAPH N°4)
by Claudia F. Díaz Arroyo

I have a home-made diet. (1) This means I almost always eat food that is cooked
at home. (2) This type of diet has both benefits and problems. (3) On one side, home-
made food is healthier than any other type of food because it is balanced and natural. (4)
It is also cheaper. (5) When you cook at home, you can use almost the same amount of
ingredients to feed 3, 4 or even 5 persons. (6) Also, you can be 100% sure of which
ingredients are being used, their quality and the amount used of each one. (7) For
example, in my house, meals are mostly cooked by my mom, and I definitely know that
she picks fresh vegetables and good quality meat! (8) This is helpful too, if you have to
follow a special diet because of a health condition. (9) Whether it is less salt, or none
spices, you are able to regulate all of it with home-made food! (10) On the other side, if
you cook at home every day, you must organize each day menu, so you don’t end up
eating similar dishes the next day. (10) You need to plan all of this with anticipation, so
you can do all the shopping and be sure you got everything you need to cook. (11) Also,
the journey does not end with the cooking itself, but you will have to do the dishes and
clean the kitchen after it! (12) As you can see, cooking at home allows you to eat
healthier, spending less money, but it requires a lot of time, thinking and effort!
