1. Please kindly explain about the definition about Foreign Policy base on your own understanding!
2. What do you know about Mayflower Compact, American Dreams, City upon a Hill and Salad
in the bowl as the US way of life?
Answer:
1. According to Hugh Gibson, foreign policy is a well rounded comprehensive plan based on
knowledge and experience for conducting business of government to the rest of the world
in order to achieve and secure national interest. From the definition about foreign policy
by Hugh Gibson, I can understand that foreign policy is strategies that applied by countries
who work together in terms of economy, social or anything that related to their own
national interest, the purpose of it is to achieve and secure the national interest itself. One
of the example of foreign policy is when America limited foreign students from entering
their country for security reasons. America thinks that foreign students can threaten the
security of their country. This policy is an example of foreign policy of America and
securing the safety of their country is their national interest.
2. Mayflower Compact is where people from many nationality and various tribe become US’s
citizen and sign the agreement of Mayflower, American Dream is people outside America
who seek for freedom so they decided to move to US mainly they are from Europe, City
upon a Hill is where America as the dominant in every aspects of a country and as a super
power country, while Salad on Bowl is where many people from different ethnicity,
culture, and race merge in US that create harmony.
