Editors Note: The following article is an unpublished essay by Jean Dubuis, that until now has

been circulated privately. Several simple diagrams are mentioned in the essay and will be
described in notations throughout the essay. As will be seen by experienced practitioners, they
are not essential to the working of the exercise, but assist only in the initial focusing of energy.
The final diagram is of a modified test tube used in testing the practical applications of this work.

Nature of Alchemy

Alchemy and Religion

This treatise was written from ancient texts and from descriptions of religious rituals from the
beginning of the Christian era.

In the evangels, a difference is made between the church of Peter and the churches of John. The
church of Peter is exoteric; it reads the texts literally and is necessary for all of those who have
not journeyed enough to access esotericism, the Path of Return.

On the other hand, the churches of John are esoteric. The give no or little value to the historicity
of the texts but attempt to grasp its inner meaning through symbolism.

The practices of these churches are essentially oriented towards the realization of the
RELIGARE, which means reestablish the link between the visible and the invisible parts of the
human being.

This treatise is made of three parts:

1) A method of inner development through the use of alchemical energies in the human
being and in nature without any laboratory equipment.
2) An objective control of the acquired development through an alchemical method using
very limited laboratory equipment. This control phase is not necessary since inner
revelation often brings enough certitude.
3) Tips concerning the use of the inner acquisition.

Commentaries on the Diagram (Attached Symbol)

Editors Note: This diagram is simply the 'Middle Pillar' of the Tree of Life using only Tiphareth,
Yesod, Malkuth, and the Paths that connect them in a single line.

This is an adaptation of the Tree of Life of the Qabala. The numbers in the circles correspond to
the numbers of the Sephiroth. In this work, only levels 6-9 and 10 are used.
In 6 the hexagram symbolizes the link between the two worlds, spiritual and material through the
Fire and Water elements. The central circle and the tiny gold nugget are the solar symbols of the
Inner Master.

Editors Note: Individuals who were sent this diagram had a small piece of gold attached to the
sphere representing Tiphareth. Native gold, or gold which has been unprocessed, is best for this
and similar operations.

In 9, lunar level, the symbol represents the receptive cup of the Grail held by the rising and
setting moons of the lunar cycle.

Editors Note: Self-explanatory. This symbol is of a chalice shaped image formed by the lunar
crescents. A simple Grail image will also do.

In 10 is the symbol of the Earth, the material world.

Editors Note: Use either an equilateral cross circumscribed, or the symbol for Antimony (Venus
symbol inverse).

The diagram will be glued to a piece of cardboard in order to be rigid and stay vertically.

On a separate piece of cardboard, you can draw the symbol of the Grail in order to leave the
symbol in the position where the energies pour in 10. At that time the little square will be placed
in front of the diagram in order to hide the symbol of the reception of the energy.

Editors Note: Draw the diagram as described. Place native gold in Tiphareth if available. Leave
the Yesod sphere blank, and draw the Grail on a piece of cardboard large enough to cover
Malkuth but reach up to the position of Yesod on the Diagram.

PART 1

THE INNER WORK

In the attached diagram, the level 6, named Tiphareth in Qabala, is considered by many to be the
Christ level. It’s the level of the spiritual solar energies. The energies of this level are the ones
that are involved in the ceremony of the Supper. In this practice, the transmitter of the highest
spiritual solar energy, the Fire, will be red wine. The Sun charges with Fire the wine grapes but
this Fire will be transmuted in the operation of fermentation. The sugar becomes alcohol and this
liquid is said to be the plant mercury. Mythology says that Mercury is the messenger of the gods
because he links the material and the spiritual. The alcohol transmits the energies in the subtle
bodies of the human being.

To illustrate this, lets say that Alchemy considers that the fermentation is a transformation done
by living microorganisms. In Alchemy, we use for instance only ammoniac salt or potassium
nitrate (niter) created by bacteria. It is fermentation that gives its alchemical properties to wine.

Editors Note: There has been extensive research into the therapeutic properties of red wine.
Amazingly, these properties exist only in red wine, not white, and only to a small degree in grape
juice. The active ingredient appears to be found in the grape skins.

Alchemical experiences also show that in the digestion operations that raise the Fire contained in
liquids, this augmentation in Fire energy is accompanied by a red tinting. Thus will the Fire of
wine be transmitted to man’s blood and slowly transmute the blood in a liquid Philosophical
Stone. Such is the real aim of the original Christian communion.

The bread will be ordinary bread fermented through natural yeast. The Earth and Water energies
it contains are aimed at giving the material part of the body the strength to support the new
energies of the blood.

This bread will be salted or taken with salt. This salt will be a natural sea salt, non-purified, and
its role will be double. It brings the energies of life contained in seawater and it retrieves the
impurities that will be rejected with it. The salt of the baptism is the salt of purification.
Editors Note: Sea-salt is rich in trace elements and minerals. This makes a difference in the
experiment over regular table salt.

Time for the operations:

The spiritual energies must be at their maximum during the time of the ceremony. These energies
emanating from Unity have been wrongly personified under the names of Planetary Geniuses,
Geniuses of the Presence, etc. In fact, in our solar system, these energies are redistributed by the
Sun and therefore follow cycles set on those of the Sun.

In our case, the ceremony will be done Sunday Morning in the hour following sunrise ( note that
in winter the “Solar Hour” can be reduced to 40 minutes).

Installation for the ceremony

- Sit facing the rising sun.

- Place the diagram vertically in front of you.
- In front of the central axis place ½ a glass of wine, some bread and a pinch of salt.

If you operate in an oratory, get light from two candles rather than from electric light. The
candles, places on both sides of the diagram, symbolize the two columns of the Temple.

In 6 is a little piece of gold, or better a native gold nugget, gold being the solar metal.

Operation

- Concentrate on the gold nugget and visualize the descent of energy in the wine for 2 to 3
minutes. The glass of wine will be held in both hands slightly above the eyes.
- Drink one or two sips of wine and be passive for 2 to 3 minutes, time for the energy to be
transferred.
 - Visualize the descent of the energy towards the wine then towards the bread for 2 to 3
minutes.
- Drink a few sips of wine then salt and slowly eat the bread.
- Do a passive meditation for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Visualize the descent of the energies from 6 to 9 in the cup of the Grail that fills with the
energies
- Do a passive meditation for 2 to 3 minutes
- Remove the glass of wine and the rest of the bread, if any, from their place in front of the
diagram.
- Place the square representing the Grail face down.
- Passively concentrate on the reception of the energies in your physical body, symbol 10,
for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Carefully store away the diagram and the square. Preferably vertically (In a book for
instance)

On Monday morning during sunrise, place yourself in front of the diagram and the square face
down. Visualize the energy going down from 9 into us for 2-3 minutes.

This ceremony concerning both the solar and the lunar cycle can be conducted in two different
manners:

1) Operate for the first time on Easter Sunday and continue the cycle of four Sundays of
operation then four Sundays of rest and so forth.
2) You can also start on a Sunday just after the moon passed the Head of the Dragon.

PART 2

ALCHEMICAL CONTROL OF THE ADVANCEMENT

(Facultative)
Editors Note: The following experiment can be very dangerous in that it involves mercury.
Thrice distilled mercury is mercury that has been distilled three times to reach a minimum level
of purity. Dental mercury will also do.

Experience has shown us that this process gives a good degree of certitude on its value through
inner contact, inner revelation or intuition.

For those who wish, a scientific like check is possible but in no case necessary in this path
towards inner realization.

In this process the inner development is accompanied by the progressive change of the blood of
the adept in the liquid Philosophical Stone. This transformation is necessarily very progressive,
slow, since the body would not tolerate a rapid transformation.

This change in the blood is controllable because with its advancement, the metallic transmutation
power of the blood appears slowly and becomes “total”, if we can say, when the “Religare” is
achieved with the Inner Master.

Two metals can be used for this control, mercury and lead, but the results with lead are three
times less and the procedure is more complex. We will therefore use mercury for this control.

Material needed.

1) Tri-distilled mercury: 20 to 30 g per control

2) Virgin beeswax.
3) A little glass cupola
4) A wood stick 20 cm (8 in) long and 3 mm (1/8th in) in diameter, tapered at one end.
5) A 20 to 30 mm (3/4 to 1 ¼ in) diameter silica or hard glass test tube. Pyrex or classical
glass would not resist. A glass resisting to 600 to 700 Celsius is a minimum. With the
help of a glass blower, the test tube will be modified as in the figure.
6) A welding torch.
7) A clamping device to hold the tube and the torch.
8) Protecting glasses and gloves.

Operating Mode

First Phase

- Cut or puncture your skin to obtain a trickle of blood.

- Remove the blood that was in contact with the metal.
- Gather the blood in the glass cupola. ¼ cc is enough.
- Cover the cupola with a fine gauze
- Let the blood dry away from solar or lunar light.
- When the blood is dry, mix it with the same amount of beeswax.
- Do not heat the wax. Use only the heat of the fingers to soften it.
- Make several spheres of the mixture, of 5-6 mm (1/4 in) in diameter.
- Stick the sphere on the tapered end of the wood stick.

Second Phase

- Operate outside or under an extracting hood that send the vapors outside. In case of
outside operation, make sure the wind is in your back in order to avoid the mercurial
vapors.
- Secure the test tube vertically by clamping it in by its top portion.
- Place the torch so that the flame reaches the base bulb.
- Pour just enough mercury to fill the bulb like shape at the bottom of the tube.
- Boil the mercury (required temperature: 357 Celsius)
- Tricky part of the experience:
- Put the thermal gloves and the protection goggles on.
- Rapidly plunge the sphere in the boiling mercury: the sphere must melt only in the
mercury. Generally there is a violent reaction and droplets of mercury could burn a non-
protected hand.
 - Evaporate all of the mercury that can deposit on the higher part of the test tube. If it is the
case, heat this part by moving the torch.

Exam of the results

In the beginning of the work, the transmutation is weak; the green color is the color of gold when
the layer has only a few atoms of thickness. Then the colors will be in the orangey-red to later
give a gold deposit which thickness will be sufficient to obtain the ordinary color of gold.

We believe that it isn’t necessary to do more than one test per year.

To clean the test tube, if you have some notions of chemistry, use Aqua Regis that will confirm
the reality of the existence of gold. Otherwise use a powder used to clean silverware.

THIRD PART

PRECAUTION FOR THE USE

OF THE INNER CONTACT

Just as the power of transmutation raises progressively, similarly the inner link grows and gets
from the unconscious to the conscious only very progressively, yet with from time to time “peaks
of realization”.

The powers that appear are those of level 6 in Qabala. It concerns mainly spiritual or material
healing and a capacity of re-harmonization of events.

In a way, we must consider the phase as a period of probation where Inner Master want to know
if our terrestrial consciousness will correctly use these powers.

Principles

- The little king does not give orders to the Great Kink
- The use of power must be accompanied by a total discretion: “ Thy shall not demonstrate
the doctrine through powers”
- The services rendered in these cases are totally free: “Thy shall not sell the gift of God”
- Advice: if you help anybody, for whatever reason, during the time when you feel in
contact, say mentally the first mane of the person concerned without any commentary or
explanation.

The contact with the Inner Master (part of Eternity within us) gives priority to all elements of our
return in Eternity, without the need of books, of priests, or of master. The adept Sendivogius
says: “Now burn all the book you have, mine included”.

For those who studied Qabala, let us remind that level 6 is connected to the archangel Raphael or
to Michael. In truth, there is here only a unique stream of energy. The name changes with the use
of the stream of energy:
- Spiritual healing: Raphael
- Material healing: Michael

Editors Note: This modified test tube consists of heating the tube until the receptacle can be
bent down to form a small holder, or pocket, for the mercury that is placed inside. Repeat! This
experiment requires heating mercury, a toxic metal, to boiling temperatures and possibly
exposing yourself or others to its vapor. This is very dangerous.
