In 1992, the United Nations described Mexico City’s air as
the most polluted on the planet. Six years later, that air
earned Mexico the reputation of “the most dangerous city in
the world for children”.

According to the World Bank, air pollution


kills nearly 33,000 Mexicans every year.

In 2002, there were 43,719,756 persons under 19


years of age in Mexico, representing just over
40 percent of the total population.

IN MEXICO CITY
In Mexico City's atmosphere, the pollutants are found as primary
and secondary pollutants. Primary Pollutant are known as those
that are emitted directly to the environment, such as Carbon
Monoxide and Sulfur Dioxide. Secondary Pollutants are created
in the atmosphere due to chemical reactions, such
as Sulfate and Ozone.
