The story of the Swimsuit Woman

A swimsuit lady goes up in a taxi whose driver
is a Filipino. He looked at her from top to
bottom and several times.
The worried women asks:   "Have you ever
seen a swimsuit woman?"
Filipino taxi driver answers:  I don't look at you
because you're on swimsuit. I'm worried
because I’m watching and watching and I don't
see where you have the money to pay.

The world we live in, however, is full of distractions. There are

undesired situations that may arise which challenge us to make an immediate
decision. It might be difficult to get completely away from all these distractions
but with the things trying to get our attention, it is more important that we learn
to shut it all and get focused. Just like this short story about a swimsuit woman
who goes up in a taxi cab, this sums up how the Filipino taxi driver grasp with
the distraction. But just like him, we also have to focus on our business and
not on the distractions. Being focused on a certain period of time allows us to
do a better quality of work. What if he gets distracted with that woman
regardless of its piece of clothing? Probably he would not deliver a quality
service to his customer, instead, he questioned the woman for its payment.
Truly, the driver shows us that being focused in the present moment means
we have to shut out all the distractions and give our undivided attention to the
task at hand. Because after all, business is business. If we let ourselves to be
hooked up by the small distractions, what more on the bigger ones. We have
to stay focused. And being focused requires our time, attention, and effort to
provide a quality service on our designated task. Think about the situation
when you learned to ride a bike. It was difficult in the beginning, there were
humps, but when you began focusing on what you were doing, your
subconscious mind took over and helped you learn. The same is true in our
tasks in life. Once we begin focusing solely on one task, our subconscious
helps us to do them quicker and easier without getting distracted.
