Goal 1: To increase foundational knowledge and learn further application skills for applying
Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit to support student achievement by
engaging in collaborative, whole school approaches to capacity building in First Nations, Métis
and Inuit education.
Goal 2: To learn additional strategies to integrate and embed assessment strategies into everyday
learning that provide a variety of methods through which students can demonstrate their
achievement of the learning outcomes.
Goal 1 = TQS #5 Applying Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit
Plan:
Goal 1 – Attend Professional Development seminars hosted by The Alberta Teachers’
Association and The Teachers Convention
Goal 1 – Seek connections with Indigenous Educators and/or Elders from other Schools to
share application practices for non-Indigenous students
Goal 2 - Engage and collaborate with mentor and team teachers to inquire and share best
assessment practices
Goal 2 – Attend Professional Development Seminars hosted by The Alberta Teachers’
Association
Goal 1 and 2 – Conduct personal internet research to add further ideas and strategies to my
emerging teaching practice
Timelines:
Registration is currently completed for The Teachers’ Convention on February 18 and 19
2021 for attendance to the aforementioned seminar topics
Ongoing engagement and collaboration with team teachers throughout the school year.
Formal team meetings to be proposed on a bi-weekly basis for targeted collaboration and
sharing of best practices.
Continuous scheduled weekly self-research blocks for conducting personal internet
research

o Reflective writing to synthesize research results and how I can apply the new
knowledge to my daily practice.
o Self-assessments that provides insight into professional growth
o Certificate of completion from Professional Development Seminars

Next steps:
Continuous reflect, review and amend. Initiate a designerly based framework of constant
ideation and recursive investigation for a constant growth mindset with the goal of career
and life-long learning.
Create new goals and Investigate new strategies to be added to the following timetable.

o Visit and monitor classroom and teaching activities with the mindset of
continuous improvement and career-long learning.
