approximately 1 inch above the tip of the dinner knife.

Wine glasses

Wine Glasses. Wine glasses are placed on the table in the order that accommodates
the service of wine. Normally at a simple meal, one wine is served, and the way the
wine glass is placed on the table is not important. But at a multi-course meal, the
appropriate wine glass is placed nearest the hand. A wine glass however, is all
about the stem as it controls the temperature of your wine.
 Avoid holding this glass by the belly with your palms or you will transfer
heat and warm the wine. This glass is meant to be held at the stem.

(1) Red Wine Glass

Glassware for red wine should have a larger, rounder bowl in order to swirl
the wine easily and help aerate it. A long stem will also keep the hand away
from the drink in order to prevent it from becoming too warm.
(2) White Wine Glass
White wine glasses will have a smaller mouth area, and therefore a smaller
surface area to aerate so that wine does not oxidize too fast. This is in order
to retain the lighter, more delicate notes that white wines will generally
have.

 It is placed in a triangle or a diamond. In the triangle arrangement,

the red wine glass is placed to the upper left of the white wine glass,
generally above the spoon. In the diamond arrangement, the red wine
glass is placed to the upper right of the white wine glass.
 It is arranged in the form of a triangle or a diamond. the white wine
glass is placed to the lower right of the red wine glass. In the diamond
arrangement, the white wine glass is placed to the lower left of the red
wine glass.
