On this module, the learner shows and presents their performances and talents in
the field of music as their ouput of their lessons.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:

1. improvise simple accompaniment to selected Southeast Asian Music


(MU8SE-Ic-h-6)
2. perform music from Southeast Asia with own accompaniment (MU8SE-Ic-h-
7)
3. evaluate music and music performane using guided rubrics applying
knowledge of musical elements amd style (MU8SE-Ic-h-8)

How to Learn from this Module

To achieve the objectives cited above, you are to do the following:

1. Carefully read all the lessons.


2. Take your time on going thru each lesson.
3. Answer the pretest honestly; the purpose of the pretest is for you to
determine your prior knowledge before going thru the lessons and activities.
4. If you have a hard time understanding the lessons and activities, please do
take a break. Having breaks between lessons and activities will give you
some space where you can absorb the lesson well.
5. You can use the internet if you need more information about the lesson.

What I Need to Kow

Appreciating the music of other Southeast Asian countries doesn’t only limits to the
knowledge of the names of the instruments, the style of the music produced and the music
ensembles every country represents. It also extends to performing their music as you
understand its nature and feel the expression of how Southeast Asian music covey their
message and identity.

What Is It

WATCH OR LISTEN

Watch videos and listen to some songs from different Southeast Asian countries. If
you have access to the internet, you may visit these suggested videos . If not, you may refer
the songs that you have listened to from Module 1 before each country is indroduced.

Activity 1: Practice Makes Perfect

Direction: After listening to the music, choose one song that you want to sing. Use only the
melody of the song but the lyrics is an Original Pilipino Music. Practice this activity on your
accompaniment to be utlized for the final activity.

Activity 2: Improvised Instruments

Direction: Form a rhythmic instrumental ensemble using improvised instruments or any


available musical instruments that sound like instruments from Southeast Asia. You may use
metal discs that sound like gongs, bamboo flutes, guitars, piano keyboards, etc. The
improvised instruments will be used for the final activity.

Activity 3: Song Cover

Direction: After you have practiced the OPM with the tune of other Southeast Asian music,
and have the available musical improvised instruments, this time you’ll make your own song
cover. It should lasts for 3-5 minutes only. Use the rubric as your guide in the next page.
