VOICE OF THE PEOPLE

Commends local
vaccination process
I wanted to commend the Mis-
sissippi State Department of Health
and the Lowndes County branch
of same, along with the Fairview
Baptist Church, for their combined
efforts in organizing an extraordi-
narily efficient vaccination opera-
tion. I was fortunate enough to be
able to make an appointment for
Monday. What I encountered when
I got there was a very well-orga-
nized and tightly run operation in
which I arrived at 3:35 for a 3:40
appointment and was checked in,
vaccinated, completed the 15-min-
ute post-vaccination waiting period,
and was driving away at 4:03. I
want to also thank the many pleas-
ant and helpful members of the
Mississippi National Guard present
to make this system work so well.
It really could not have been any
easier short of sending a limo to
fetch me at home. My hat is off to
all involved! Mission accomplished
and job extremely well done!
I hope as many people as possi-
ble will take advantage of this great
opportunity to help our city and the
local economy. But I’ll keep wear-
ing my mask as long as necessary.

HEALTH TIP
n Drink a glass of water after every alcoholic beverage: Nope, we’re not going to tell you to refrain
from alcohol (though you certainly can if you want!). Drinking alcohol in moderation can be part of
“healthy” lifestyle if done in a responsible manner. A glass of water after every alcoholic beverage helps
to detoxify the alcohol from your body, as well as slow your alcohol consumption and keep you hydrated.

he continued. “The leadership of our state —
the lieutenant governor and speaker of the
House — decided to pass legislation to take
down the state flag that had the Confederate

a new design to be presented to the voters.”
Anderson was chairman of the nine-mem-

among more than 1,500 submissions.
In November, voters approved the new
design by a 3-to-1 margin and the Legisla-

The flag, Anderson said, is much more
than symbolic.
