“I trusted you…” Those words kept echoing through my head as I sat alone in the stone room
with my hands and feet tied to the chair. Just a few hours before, I was driving around the city like
normal. My partner and I had been undercover in a criminal organization for six months. Only a few of
the higher ups knew about our mission. We had slowly been working our way up in the ranks and we
were trusted by everyone in the organization. Everything was going as well as expected, or so we thought.
I had been on my way to the house of one of the leaders when I got a phone call from my partner.
It seemed strange because I had seen him less than an hour ago, so I answered. He sounded frantic on the
other end of the phone. He was talking so fast I could hardly understand what he was saying. He kept
repeating, “They know. They know everything. He told them all about us.” Those simple phrases were the
only things I could pick up, but they were enough to send shivers up my spine.
After a few seconds I heard him say, “Oh no, they're here.” I immediately asked him who was
there but once again, no response. I heard a loud noise and then I heard his phone fall to the ground. A
few seconds later I heard my partner say one more thing. I heard the phrase, “I trusted you...”
My mind started racing a hundred miles a minute. I could not think straight. Who had he trusted?
I didn’t know what to do, but I still had to go into the leader’s house. He was expecting me and he would
be suspicious if I didn’t show up. I slowly walked into the house and made my way to the office.
As I entered he said, “I’m glad you could make it.” Immediately I knew something was wrong,
but it was too late. I felt a sharp pain on my head and I fell to the ground.
When I woke up I was sitting in this chair. About fifteen minutes ago, a couple of guys had
dragged my unconscious partner through the room and out a side door. After about five minutes, three of
the four guys returned, leaving only one with my partner. It was killing me not to know what was
happening. Then I heard yelling. “Please don’t shoot me!” I tried to get loose but I couldn’t. The ropes
were too tight. Then my body froze and my heart dropped in my chest. Two gunshots echoed throughout
