WHAT I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT EGYPT

Part of my personal bucket list in life is to visit historical places around the
world. EGYPT never failed to give me this fortune instead it welcomed and
showed me what my eyes are after for.

1. Pyramid of Giza is one of the 7th Wonders of the World. And

the aliens did it.

tourist centers. Believe it or not, this is where I got my diving li-

3. Ras El Bar means “Head of Island” found in Mediterranean Sea,
Northeast of Egypt. I have seen the Nile River other end point

in the area. Will visit again for sure.

standing of what surveillance audit is?

What is the purpose of the Surveillance Audit?

The main purpose of surveillance audit or visits is for the certification body to find out
whether your management system really works in everyday operations, or not. It will focus on
things that the certification audit wasn’t able to check: for instance, whether all the incidents
are recorded, whether all the incidents are recorded, whether all the measurements are made,
whether all corrective and preventive actions are properly recorded and implemented, wheth-
Surveillance er the top management really supports and cares about the system, etc.
A surveillance audit will also focus on issues that were identified as weak in the certification
audit or previous surveillance audit – minor non- conformities, as well as the areas where the
auditor has made some observations.

10 Communique October 2017

ISO UPDATE October 2017

The point is, during the surveillance audit the certification auditor will pay far less attention to the documents themselves, and
far more attention to how the key processes are performed, how they are measured, and how they are improved – in other
words, whether your system really works.
So don’t relax after your certification audit is over - the certification body is highly interested in finding out whether your
management system is really functioning, and this is exactly what the surveillance audit will focus on. And this is one more
reason why you shouldn’t implement the standard only for the purpose of certification – the idea should be that the procedures

The Japanese Concept of Ikigai could be the
Secret to a Long Meaningful Life
TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW

By: Kenny Digman, Turbine Design

What's your reason for getting up

in the morning?
Just trying to answer such a big question might
make you want to crawl back into bed. If it
does, the Japanese concept of ikigai could help.
Originating from a country with one of the
world's oldest populations, the idea is becom-
ing popular outside of Japan as a way to live
longer and better.
While there is no direct English translation,
ikigai is thought to combine the Japanese words ikiru, meaning "to live," and kai, mean-
ing "the realization of what one hopes for." Together these definitions create the concept
of "a reason to live" or the idea of having a purpose in life.
Ikigai also has historic links: gai originates from the word kai, which means shell. These
were considered very valuable during the Heian period (794 to 1185), according to Akihi-
ro Hasegawa, a clinical psychologist and associate professor at Toyo Eiwa University, add-
ing a sense of "value in living."

To find this reason or purpose, experts recommend

starting with four questions:

· What do you love?

· What are you good at?
· What does the world need from you?
· What can you get paid for?

VIP Visitors arriving in Laguna Factory1

As of August 2017, the number of control panels delivered by
Laguna Factory 1 since its establishment in 2012 reached more
than 1000 panels. On September 15, 2017, a simple ceremony was
conducted to celebrate the significant milestone. The ceremony
was hosted by MHPS-TS and attended by visitors from various
companies like MHPS, MHPS Asia Pacific, MHPS-CS, Tsukiden,
ACK and Bluesteel.

Mr. Masaki Mishiro, MHPS-TS President, delivering his welcome speech

The Program with Ms. Alphea Dayao as emcee started with a

prayer headed by Mr. Nathaniel Alisasis. It was then followed by
an opening message by MHPS-TS President, Mr. Masahiko
Mishiro.

After Mr. Mishiro delivered his welcome message and his appreciation to the guests, the VIP visitors were introduced.
Among the VIP visitors, three of them gave a key note speech. On their speeches, there is a common message that they emphasized “to be in
this moment celebrating the milestone means that Factory1 had been successful with its mission and they were looking forward to the growth
and continual success of Factory1, from manufacturing 1000 panels to 2000, 5000, 10000 and so on”.

Key note speakers Mr. Koji Ikeda-MHPS (Le ), Mr. Katsuhiko Toda-MHPS-CS (Middle), Mr. Kazuma Hanzawa-Tsukiden (Right)

MHPS-TS Dancers performing the “ nikling” dance Another highlight of the event happened just before closing the cere-
monies when MHPS-TS dancers entered and performed to entertain
the visitors. It was indeed an entertaining number as the dancers,
showcased their graceful moves. The audience erupted for a round of
applause after their performance. MHPS Senior Vice President, Mr.
Tsutumi, even lauded their performance in his closing message de-
scribing it as “surprising and entertaining”.

To close the ceremony, Mr. Atsushi Tsutsumi, MHPS Senior

Vice President, gave his message and leads the group to do the
“good luck clap” or in Japanese term “Sanbonjime”. The Gathering up for the “Sanbonjime”

“Sanbonjime”, is a traditional Japanese clap usually done and

CPED Quarterly Party
September 13, 2017 @SM Megamall
Bowling + Great Food? This combination will
never go wrong at any time of the year. This is
why CPED chose this treat for their members
to just relax and enjoy the moment. 12 teams,
suited up with their chosen gimmick, show-
cased their skill in playing bowling. Some mem-
bers threw the bowling ball to hit pins and others
do it to relieve off their stress. But no matter how
they’ve done it, surely it brought smiles in their
faces. Quarterly party will not be completed if
there is no food. CPED members indulged them-
selves to a delectable and stomach-filling feast at
Sambokojin Buffet Restaurant. Smiles, costumes,
pins, prizes, chatters, laughter, fun, and foods.
Splendid night indeed.
