Q. 1 Explain the following terms:

1. Hot chamber and Cold chamber pressure Die casting
2. Chills and chaplets.

Q.2 Write the essential parts of Lathe machine with suitable diagram and also explain various
operations which can be performed on Lathe machine.

Q.3 Write the essential difference between TIG and MIG Welding processes with schematic
diagram also explain the difference between soldering and brazing process.

Q.4 An air standard auto cycle has a compression ratio of 8. At the start of compression process,
the temperature is 26 ºC and the pressure is1 bar. If the maximum temperature of the cycle
is 1080 ºC. Calculate (a) the heat supplied per kg of air (b) net work done per kg of air. (c)
Air standard efficiency of the cycle.

Q.5 Derive the efficiency of an air standard diesel cycle. And calculate efficiency if cycle
compression ratio is 15 and cut off is 6% of stroke.
Q.6 For a four stroke diesel engine cycle, compression ratio 21:1and expansion ratio 10.5:1,
Calculate the cut-off ratio and air standard efficiency.
