PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE

RULE 1:

Do = doing work = working travel = traveling paint = painting

Dance = dancing close = closing erase = erasing practice = practicing

RULE 3:

Run = running sit = sitting swim = swimming stop = stopping

Let = letting Get = getting Get up = getting up cut = cutting

RULE 4:

Fix = fixing draw = drawing pay = paying quiz = quizing buy = buying

Examples:

I am = I’m working. Yo estoy trabajando.

She is = She’s studying. Ella está estudiando.
It is = It’s working. Está funcionando.
They are = they’re looking. Ellos/Ellas están mirando.
He is = he’s eating. El esta comiendo

SIMPLE PAST TENSE

1. Regular verbs 2. Irregular verbs

1.- REGULAR VERBS: Se les agrega la terminación

ED en el pasado.
They watch television every night.

(Simple present)

They watched television last night

(Simple past)

Watched is the simple past.

THE SIMPLE PAST OFTEN – ED (REGULAR VERBS)

Work worked dance danced

Clean cleaned stay stayed

Start started need needed

Try tried study studied copy copied

Stop stopped plan planned

2. - IRREGULAR VERBS:

No
manera memorizada. Se les denominan 'Verbos Irregulares'.

Examples:

➢ I bought this car last year / Compré este carro el año pasad.

➢ They drank alcohol two years ago.

perfecto:

I have bought a car.

I have seen that movie twenty times.
I think I have met him once before.
There have been many earthquakes in California.
People have traveled to the Moon.
Nobody has ever climbed that mountain.

I bought a car.

I have read a book.

This morning I have drunk three coffees. Esta mañana me he tomado 3 cafés

I have lived in this city since 1980. He vivido en esta ciudad desde 1980.
Implica que sigo viviendo en la ciudad.
I have played tennis since my childhood. He jugado al tenis desde mi infancia.

y sigo jugando.

Pág 83
INST.

1. AFFIRMATIVE FORM.

I have listened to the news. Yo he escuchado las noticias

She has watched TV. Ella ha visto la tele

2. NEGATIVE FORM.
La forma negativa se forma con la partícula de negación "not" entre el auxiliar (have, has) y el
verbo principal.

EXAMPLES:
I have not done my homework. Yo no he hecho mis deberes.
People have not traveled to Mars.
James has not finished his homework yet.
Bill has still not arrived.
The rain hasn't stopped.
INTERROGATIVE FORM:

EXAMPLES:

Have you been to Seville? ¿Has estado en Sevilla?

Have you read the book yet?
Has there ever been a war in the United States?
Have you been to Mexico the last year?

WH-QUESTION: HOW LONG

En esta lección aprenderemos a utilizar HOW LONG, SINCE Y FOR en oraciones en Present Perfect para describir el tiempo
que viene ocurriendo una acción.

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE + how long & since / for

encontramos. Para ello, usamos la estructura de present perfect tense acompañado de how long, since y for.

HOW LONG …?

How long has your father had that car?

How long have you lived in this city?

How long have you been at this school?

Ejemplos:

1.- My father has had that car since February. = Mi papá tiene ese carro desde febrero.
2. I have lived in this city since I was born. = Vivo en esta ciudad desde que nací.
