What is freedom?
In generic definition, it is the ability to do what one likes.
In Catechism of the Catholic Church, freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this
or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one’s own responsibility. By free will, one shapes one’s own will.
Consequences something that happens as a result of a particular action or set of condition can be either good or
bad.
A person is not responsible for an evil act if he did not will it and did not intended it as a means to an end “problems
arise when we don’t think about or recognize the consequences of our actions.
When you are not aware of the consequences of our behaviours two things may happen in that case where
consequences are negative you run the risk of repeating the same mistake.
What is prudence?
It is defined as the act of being careful. The ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason.
Prudence is the first of the cardinal virtues because it is the ability to look at a concrete situation and know what
ought to be done. It is the ability to make right judgements.
1. Deliberation – this is the stage where we gather all the relevant information, starting with a consideration of moral

1. Deliberation – this is the stage where we gather all the relevant information, starting with a consideration of moral
principles.
2. Judgement – after deliberating, we must weigh all the evidence fairly, and then figure out the best course of action.
Judgment separates the relevant information from the irrelevant information, and then applies it to the problem at
hand. You can't just think about something forever; you have to come to some sort of conclusion. Failure to make a
judgment is called indecision.
3. Execution – once we judge the right thing to do, we have got to act. If you figure out the proper action, but then fail
to perform it, what's the benefit? You do not have the virtue of prudence until you actually do what you have judged
to be right. Failure to carry out what you believe to be the proper decision is called irresoluteness.
