How
Evolution Of IPA
IPA started off to support the frontline health and sanitation workers in the fight against the
corona virus. It then evolved to support the government efforts in caring for and curing patients
suffering from Covid-19. Even as this battle continues, we are thinking ahead of what the country
needs and how this alliance of corporates, foundations and the social sector can help.

Intervention Areas
The work that the IPA has been doing so far, can be put into the following buckets:
Support: Provide PPE kits, disinfection services, direct cash transfers, social security
Going forward, IPA will continue with the four buckets, but the specifics would change.
Behaviour change: In the short run, we need to work on getting people to wear masks. In the
longer term, IPA could take up behaviour change campaigns around washing hands, toilet
usage, anti-obesity, anti-drugs and so on.
Infrastructure: IPA would help build toilets, ensure safe water supply and manage solid wastes.
Support: life & health insurance for sanitation workers and others who need it.
We have always known that health is a prerequisite for productivity. However, the privileged have
focused on their own & their family’s health and have not been concerned with public health in
general. The pandemic has shown us the error of our ways.
Poor public health has caused the privileged to retreat into their homes and the economy to
collapse. We have come to see how inter-related we all are. The family in the penthouse cannot
lead a normal healthy life, if the family in the slum is not well.
The mission of the alliance is to reduce the risk of such epidemics and also to improve the general
health indicators of the country. Doing so will help us economically, emotionally and
environmentally.
