I am Juandito would like to deliver a very important information that might help you one day.
It is about safety in laboratory.
In order to do your job properly in a labs, there are some rules and regulations you have to follow to avoid
accidents.
First, is the appearance
6-8 wear close toed shoes and pull back your long hair
10 your long hair must be pulled back or keep it in your safety coat.
11-13 close toed shoes can protect your feet from harmful chemicals that may spill on the floor or if there
are broken glassware your feet will be protected.
14-16 backpacks with strap or other wired things should be kept away from your work space
17-19 wear goggles to protect your eyes from vaporized chemicals
20-21 if you feel something wrong with your eyes, wash your eyes right away in the sink with flowing water
or use the eye washer for at least 2 minutes.
22-28 when you work with chemicals or microbes wear gloves to cover and protect your hand.
Some people have allergies with latex so make sure your gloves is latex free. This gloves also can keep
your skin away from burning chemicals
29 even though you wear gloves, always wash your hand with soap and water right after you take them off
especially if you’re going to have lunch
30 when you are leaving the labs, put your safety coat off and keep it somewhere safe.
31-34 some accident could happen, especially involves breaking glassware. Don’t touch it! Use broom and
dust bin to clean it up.
35-36 dump the broken glassware into a bin specially for broken glasses
37 don’t use chipped glassware for experiment. It can crack anytime.
38-40 don’t ever smell or taste substances inside the lab, some substances contain bad microbes and dangerous
chemical that harmful
41 if you need the information about the component. Read the description written in the container
42 every chemicals poured from the bottle must never be return back
43-47 never dump the used chemicals to the sink because it will ruin the drain and might be harmful to the
environment
48-51 if you are dealing with volatile substances, do it inside laminar airflow which work as if it is a
ventilation so the gases won’t surround the lab.
52-55 when you work with high temperature, wear fabric gloves or use tongs
56-57 don’t ever hesitate to ask the instructor for any help if you need it.
58-60 read MSDS for the information of any chemicals you are using to avoid accidents.
