MONITORING AND EVALUATION INDIVIDUAL PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENT

The task shall be done at the participant’s workplace or a chosen organisation, under the supervision and direction of the
Project’s staff. Supervision may involve visits and close monitoring through the phone and the internet, as and when necessary.
The candidate is expected to use skills acquired during the training programme to develop a project document of not less than
6000 and not more than 7000 words, excluding preliminary pages and references, making specific reference to the
programme/project/organisation he/she is managing/running or familiar with.

Description of the task.


With specific reference to an organisation you are working for or familiar with, outline the strong and weak points of the
monitoring and evaluation process.
1. What strategies would you recommend be put in place for the process to be more effective?
2. Develop the relevant monitoring and evaluation plans that cover all the aspects of the organisation for it to be more
effective and acceptable across the organisation
3. Draw up the logical framework based on your vision, mission, overall objectives, outcome indicators and M&E
objectives that guide your activities throughout the process.
4. Draw up a conclusion indicating the implications of your study to the studied organisation.

CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction and background of the organisation
 Vision and mission statement of the organisation, objectives of the organisation and the activities that the organisation under
study is engaged in to achieve its objectives.
1.2 Objectives of the study- (purpose of carrying out the study. This is presented in point form)
1.3 Justification of the study- (Why and how your study is important to the studied organisation, to you as a student, and
the discipline of M&E)
1.4 Delimitations of the study (Define the scope of the study)
1.5 Chapter summary (a brief overview of what the chapter has discussed)
CHAPTER TWO
This chapter should extensively review literature on Monitoring and Evaluation

CHATER THREE
This chapter must present the SWOT analysis of the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation system.
3.1 Strength, 3.2, Weaknesses, 3.3, Opportunities, 3.4, Threats, 3.5, 3.6, Recommendations on how to rectify the
identified threats and weaknesses.
CHAPTER FOUR
This chapter presents the monitoring and evaluation plans for the organisation and it is structured as follows:

4.1 Proposed monitoring and evaluation plan- (Focus on a programme/project that the organisation is involved in, using the
recommended/ improved approach to M&E. Support your implementation plan with a log frame/project matrix)
4.2 Implementation plan (support with a log frame)
4.3 Conclusion
4.4 Recommendations for improving the organisation’s M&E systems.

NB
 All individual projects shall be subjected to electronic plagiarism testing using Ephorus.
The accepted plagiarism rate is 10% and below.
