Signs ff – fortissimo – very loud


f - forte - loud
Mf - mezzo forte - moderately loud
Mp – mezzo piano – moderately soft
P – piano – soft
cresc., crescendo - gradually becoming louder
decrescendo – gradually becoming softer
4/4 - simple quadruple – 4 crotchet beats per bar – common time
bar-line – divides the beats according to the time signature
double bar-line – end of a piece or section
sharp (#) - raises a note a semitone
flat (b) – lo wers a note a semitone
