Based on the explanation of Allianz Indonesia: Leadership Transformation case, I can say that I
disagree with the statement.
Here is my argument:
1. Overconfidence is the quality of being too certain of your abilities or of your chances of success
(Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary & Thesaurus © Cambridge University Press).
Overconfidence occurs when one's belief in one's ability exceeds reality.
Jens contributing much to the developing of Allianz Indonesia’s corporate cultures where trust is
the most important aspect and people are the most valuable assets. By believing that trust and
building reputation while at the same time developing people, he has shown behaviors that can
be seen clearly by his subordinates and partners, as follows:
a. Outstanding at getting people together and communicate visions.
b. Open to input from subordinates
c. Care for his employees and business partners to the extent of being the first one who send
birthday greetings or talk/dance with them.
d. Always helpful when somebody needs assistance
e. Developing his people through integrated human resource development program
Jens leadership style is one of key success in Allianz Indonesia’s business transformation which
leads to Allianz Indonesia becoming one of the best insurance company in Indonesia.
3. Finally, since Jens Reisch truly shown his ability in building Allianz Indonesia, I disagree with
the statement saying that he is overconfidence.
