Differences of English Composition II

In the fall of 2020, I began taking English Composition II. I expected the class to be very

similar to the Composition I class I took the year prior, but the class has been very different. In

English Composition I, I wrote many different papers about many different things, but in

Composition II, I have written many papers all about the same topic. I enjoy having the

opportunity to write about the same topic throughout the entire class because I have learned the

importance of thorough research. Although I have not written the final research paper about the

topic yet, the papers I have already written throughout the class have led up to the final paper. I

have been able to thoroughly explore the information about the topic more than ever before. In

previous research papers I have written, I included sufficient information to support my thesis,

but only did enough research to fulfill the assignment. With this research paper, I have been able

to find the absolute best information to support my thesis, as well as truly understand the issue at

hand in its entirety.

In the beginning of the class, I was discouraged because I was receiving lower grades

than I had in Composition I. I realized I would have to carefully watch out for mistakes and put

forth my best work if I wanted to receive the same grades I did in Composition I. Something that

helped me a lot was asking more questions. Normally if I am confused, I ask my friends for help,

but I realized asking the teacher directly would be more beneficial. By asking the teacher more

questions, I have been able to receive clear clarification and explanation of things that confused

me. After taking more time on my papers, putting a little bit more effort in, and asking the

teacher more questions, I received better grades. I am very proud of the last few assignments I

have completed, and I hope to continue the good work for the final research paper and

throughout the rest of the class.
