 I had to extract the benefits and the challenges from the research database, and I referenced them

in an excel sheet. So, upon finalizing the extraction we observed that there were duplications in
both benefits and challenges. In order to tackle this duplication matter, I carefully scrutinized the
list of the benefits and the challenges again and created a concise list of benefits and challenges.
The last step was to categorize the benefits and the challenges in terms of: - technical
organizational / Semantic/ Economical / Legal / Social
 I collected 24 benefits that I had to extract from 18 articles and classified in 5 categories
 Regarding the challenges, I have found 25 challenges in 9 articles classified in 6 categories
 While categorizing the benefits and challenges, I observed that there was an obvious lack of legal
and social categories among the articles
 There were also too little details that were put in bullet points in original articles that hindered me
to elaborate more.
 In this slide, I will reveal some examples of the benefits of Master Data management:
- offers Better data consistency and accuracy
- Improves Data quality
- Reduces time and cost
- Establishes better regulatory compliance
As for the challenges:
- Scarcity of data governance as the absence of data governance allows inconsistencies in
application data
- Loss of data
- High cost of MDM adoption
- Complication of data and application integration that can be data consolidation and data
transfer errors
