The Water Cycle-Flipped Classroom

Objectives:

Students will be able to …

 Identify each step of the water cycle.

 Explain each step of the water cycle a( and why it is important to the Earth )
 Create a video demonstrating the steps of the water cycle.

This lesson teaches the steps of the water cycle. First, as a flipped classroom, students view
content and explore related concepts at home watching a video that I prepared for them and they
can access to it in my website n weebly. Then in the class, students review content as a group
and do a small test and as independent work they have to create a video.

 Step 1: At home –homework Before Day1

 Step 2: Quick review At Class Day 1
 Step 3: Assess /Discussion/ Reflection Class Day 1
 Step 4: Independent practice creating video Class Day 2

Step 1: At home –homework Before class /session

Students will be watching the video that I sent to them taking notes. Students create a graphic
organizer to summarize what they learned.

Step 2: Quick review At Class Day 1

I will direct students to do a quiz after results are in, review any concepts that students struggled
with, and watch a video as a quick content review. Review or clear up any misunderstanding
about the water cycle.

Step 3: Assess /Discussion/ Reflection during class

Create an online class discussion using padlet website for students to participate in. I can Post the
discussion questions in the padlet and students can respond and write answers, then allow
students time to read each other’s responses and discuss as a class. Informally asses student
understanding through discussion and online response, and address any misconceptions as a
class. This step serves as student preparation of key points for the in-class video assignment.
Discussion Questions:

o What is the water cycle? Why is it important?

o What the meaning of evaporation and condensation?
o What happens to water vapor in the atmosphere?
o Explain shortly the water cycle?

Step 4: Independent practice creating video Class Day 2

I will create an assignment page in my website in weebly for students to submit completed work
and assist students during video creation process. Students sketch or draw a storyboard with
paper prior to creating movie.
