ORIGIN
Teacher's Day is a holiday that commemorates people who are
dedicated to teaching students professionally.

At the beginning of the 20th century and as a result of the public

policies of universalization of education, the idea of commemorating
the teaching work arose; various states established special days
dedicated to honoring teachers for their work.

In Venezuela, Created in 1932, during the dictatorship of Juan

Vicente Gómez, a group of educators formed an association to defend
the labor rights of teachers and improve education in Venezuela, this
would be the Venezuelan Society of Teachers of Public Instruction.

In Venezuela
The date of celebration of the teacher's day has its
origin on January 15, 1932, the date on which the Society
of Primary Instruction Teachers was founded in Caracas,
whose purpose was to fight for dignity and for the rights
of educators .
Venezuela celebrates the National Teacher's Day on
January 15, decreed by General Isaías Medina Angarita in
recognition of the struggles started by this union when,
during the Gomez dictatorship, a group of educators
formed an association to defend the labor rights of
teachers and improve education in Venezuela.
During the government of General Isaías Medina Angarita, the FVM
directed its work towards the modernization of education and the
improvement of the conditions of educators, recognizing the
importance of their work, the Teacher's Day is decreed on January 15
of each year. Between 1949 and 1958, during the dictatorship of
General Marcos Pérez Jiménez, the action of the teaching movement
decreased and in 1952 the date of celebration was changed to
November 29, as a tribute to Andrés Bello, who guided the education
of El Libertador Simón Bolivar.
However, as of 1959, after the fall of the Pérezjimenista dictatorship,
the date that had been initially set by Medina Angarita in 1952 was
retaken and in which homage is currently paid to Venezuelan teachers.
