SUBJECT: Stock Report

The following is a report to show you the performance of your stocks during the eight-week
period and will give you the appropriate information to evaluate your investments. This letter
will show how the Dow Jones Industrial Average performed over the eight weeks, and will show
how your stocks performed. It will also include a more in-depth analysis for the stock you
purchased in Nike.

Stock Performance—Over the eight-week period your portfolio performed well. We purchased
100 stocks in each of the following companies: Nike, Amazon, Ford, Tesla, Microsoft, Disney,
Adidas, and Netflix. Of these eight stocks only Tesla and Ford were worth less week 8 than they
were week 1 and the loss was minimal. The two Stocks that performed the best were Amazon
and Netflix. The cost of all your stocks week 1 was $2,692.72 and week 8 the value was up to
$2.793.62. Your portfolio raised by just over $100 during this period.

Figure 1
Nike Stock—As you may have noticed in the stock report, the Nike stock steadily increased in
value over the eight weeks with only one exception in week seven. According to an article on
Investor’s Business Daily that was written by Michael Larkin, the drop in stock price was
because the shoe of a very popular college basketball player ripped apart during a televised
basketball game. The article further explains, “It wasn't a good look for Nike, with people
flocking to social media to mock the iconic brand.”

Figure 2
As the graph above shows, the Nike stock was steadily growing until the incident with the
basketball player. Nike fortunately recovered from the situation quickly and began its upward
trend once more.

Dow Jones Industrial Average—The DJIA stands for Dow Jones Industrial Average. “The
Dow Jones Industrial Average is the second-oldest and best-known stock market index. . . it
measures the daily price movements of 30 large American companies on the Nasdaq and the
New York Stock Exchange.” This is a good tool to use because it shows the average of the top
30 companies in America. As expected with all companies, there will be ups and there will be
downs. There should be this realization before investing in a company. The DJIA will help how
far the highs and lows deviate from that of the industrial average. In the graph below, it shows
the average trading volume. Comparing to the Nike revenue in the above graph to the industrial
average, we can see that Nike is following the trend of the other companies. This would assure
you that Nike is on the right track for continued success.

very proud of yourself. Going forward it would be greatly appreciated if you continue to work
