HINTS FOR DESCRIBING A PICTURE

A KLM Boeing 747 landing at St. Martin

This is a picture of a landing aircraft.

It is a B747 of a Dutch company called KLM.
The airplane is on final approach, just before touchdown.
Judging by the landscape around the runway, the picture
is taken at some tropical island.
The airport is obviously not very big, the runway doesn’t
seem too wide and it certainly requires good piloting skills
to land such a jumbo jet at an airport like this.
What is especially interesting about this picture is that
there is a road and a sandy beach right by the end of the
runway. We see lots of cars and people there.
On the one hand, it is a perfect place for plane spotting
and perhaps it is a popular tourist attraction, but it might
as well be dangerous to stand so close to the runway. The
jet blast from arriving or departing airplanes may cause
serious injuries.
