A. Nursery Establishment

Temporary nursery was established using tree fern, coconut leaves and
bamboos as building materials to serve as area for seedling production.
B. Asexual Reproduction

Good mother trees were selected to serve as source of cuttings.

Sticking of cuttings in rooting media was done for root production.


Figure 4. Potting of rooted cuttings.

Rooted cuttings were potted in a polyethylene bag filled with soil media.

C. Sexual Reproduction

Good seeds were collected and selected through floatation ready for
reproduction.

Soil media was prepared ready for sowing.

Seeds can be directly sown in poly bags or sown in seedbed then transferred
in poly bags upon germination.
D. Nursery Management & Maintenance

Watering is done if needed to avoid dehydration of the seedlings.

Weeding is done if needed to avoid competition between the seedlings and


the weeds.

Proper spacing among seedlings is recommended to promote better growth


and development of seedlings.

Root pruning is done to promote development of more roots and to avoid root
associated defect like circling roots and others.

Hardening is done to prepare seedlings ready for out-planting.
