CORONAVIRUS-19 EXPLAINED: SYMPTOMS & PREVENTIVE MEASURES

A newly found disease called Coronavirus causes COVID-19 or Coronavirus Disease to

spread. When the outbreak of the virus started, World Health Organization (WHO) defines this
newly discovered virus as SARS-Cov-2. Since then, the spread of the virus continued in all parts
of the globe.2
Individuals with mild symptoms can be cured with no special treatment required.
Unfortunately, people of old age that have existing ailments related to the cardio-respiratory
system can be triggered when infected.3 Still, these corona virus targets all individuals, young or
old.
Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body
aches, headache, few losses of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or
vomiting, and diarrhea are the symptoms of COVID-19. If a person has these symptoms, he/she
is infected by the virus.4 Those people will be a candidate to swab testing to confirm if they have
the disease or not. Furthermore, individuals who have a direct contact to people who are tested
positive will be a possible candidate for the testing too.
Being knowledgeable about the virus can prevent the spread of it. The disease can spread by
droplets from an infected individual. You can avoid it by performing simple protocols like

rubbing the hands with alcohol and avoiding touching the face. 5 In addition to that, it is advisable
to wear a facemask and face shield all the time and learn to normally do it all the time.
Currently, these COVID-19 already end a lot of lives. Almost two million people died.
According to Secretary General António Guterres, we must be united to save lives, ensure
people’s security and we must conquer the pandemic.6
