LOCKHEED maRnTIN Resume Critique Checklist Your resume should: 4 sell the reader quickly (provide positive impression within 15 seconds, 2 minutes) 4 be written with the employer in mind + detail accomplishments + have eye appeal, but scan effectively into electronic database. Do not use: + arty or italicized fonts, and/or extremely small print, badly skewed type ¢ dark colored paper and multi-colored inks ¢ handwriting or highlighter marks over/through typed text Ten things to avoi a Too long (1-2 pages, space well used, appears uncrowded and balanced) @ Overwritten (experience summarized, adequate use of white space) Too brief Poorly typed and printed Misspellings, typographical errors, poor grammar (use spell and grammar checks) Not results-oriented (begin statements with action verbs, quantify/qualify results) Irrelevant personal information Disorganization. Indent and bold consistently.
