Things we find valuable when analyzing a text

● Types of language used (stylized, colorful, etc.)

● How clear a text is to an audience (language)
● Depth of characters
● Structure (interesting, unusual, thought-provoking, etc.)
● How relatable a text is (through theme, character, etc.)
● Relevance to audience(s) (time period)
● Is the plot interesting? / Is it entertaining?
● How are action and emotion developed?
● Is it easy to read (and/or comprehend and/or analyze and/or interpret)?
● Does it evoke an emotional response?
● How do events develop (linear vs. nonlinear narrative, is there a climax, etc.)
